  1. I just got the banjo piece from 'deliverance' going through my head for the whole video...
  2. Got mine from Ebay too, very, very old buckinghams but for £22.50 inc postage was a bargain! Well comfy for most of the day. Question looking on the treeworker link Climbing Spurs - Treeworker.co.uk i only ever thought there was long or short gaffs. Whats the Europe gaff? Can someone enlighten me to this because im bamboozled.....
  3. Is it simple to use? as that's kind of the main thing i want. Something i can pick up and use fairly proficiently fastish.
  4. I was thrown on a seminar at barchams and they had some guys from Nottingham uni tech thingy there showing (sales pitch) on thermal cameras. In my opinion i wasn't impressed firstly cost and secondly it kind of stated the obvious?? like a huge cavity and the showed us the lack of heat surrounding it = decay? But we didn't see any photos of bats or bat roosts, which i would imagine would show up clearly at the cavity entrance. But still its the cost of the thing. Would rather save for a picus.....
  5. :blushing:Tony, what do you use and is it any good and do you know how much it costs?
  6. wow! that's terrible, feel sorry for your mate.

  8. £49.97 on amazon Amazon.co.uk: turbo cad 16 deluxe
  9. January sucks! Got out on friday to do a days climbing in the snow. Then SMASH! some kid skidded straight into my parked truck! luckly only the bumper, headlight, wing and on his insurance. I thought well this month is really giving me some jip. roll on feb!
  10. On the GRCS? that would be yes:thumbup: Although i never needed to place any ice in it ever. That was Tonys toy at MJ? He understood it better than i did.
  11. I was in the same boat as you for a long, long while. Always told you lacked the 'qualification' and 'experiance'. It seems like no-one wants to pay for you to get trained up. So i did a tech cert course through Home and being trained by dave dowson and andy summerly is a must. the CAD I just downloaded google sketch up (its free) and played around with it till i had some kind of idea how to do bits and bobs. Once i had the qualifications i got the job as a consultant + tea boy . Thats what i had to do at least.
  12. :lol:Maybe he does house fracture pruning? and it was all part of the service.......
  13. I did some fracture pruning in whitlingham wood in norfolk. A large horse chestnut in decline, large leggy limbs signs of cracking at the main fork union. Got a massive backlash from the bird watchers and walkers saying 'id F'd up natures beauty' but 12 months later when i re-surveyed the site crack hasn't got worse and it looks much better and attract more wildlife than i noticed before. Also now the walkers and bird watchers like it and have requested a bench for viewing thier beloved birds. So im all for this kind of work.
  14. Agreed well put sir.
  15. They have got some ace kit too:biggrin:
  16. Is it Scarning Fen? Just past Dereham?
  17. Ah ha, i was following the footage thread that said review to follow. May have also missed a link to the review quite possibly
  18. Guessing not?? in full then:blushing:
  19. Imo i try to enlighten the customer to what potential the tree has for the future. If they want it topped i would say its cheaper to remove it and replant in the long run? Or suggest thinning it? I think part of our job (other than making a living) is to guide the customer to the best option for them.
  20. As the post says. I've got mine and it seems the only real way to secure it to my petzl vertex helmet is with the elastic band which seems a tad too big for the securing clamp/things? also the bike attachment seems to fit better but there is no way of fitting the elastic strap (and it too big in size for the gaps) through it? I know it has a c-clip clamp but have used clips like that before and being made of plastic they aint going to be the strongest against a twig/branch/ivy etc? So how have you secured yours to your hats? As i want to start filming but dont want to wreak a good camera.....
  21. :cursing:ok, ive looked and looked and cannot be bothered to continue looking through the tree pic gallery for it. :001_smile:BUT, it looked good:thumbup: hence why i asked the question, i would only reduce a pine by choice by 15% imo. I know some people would 'top it' and think its better for a tree by letting the light in that way. I was just seeing what peoples opinion on the matter was.
  22. Ok, well i've never reduced a pine tree in my time as a climber. Felled, deadwooded many, reduced the odd limb etc. I saw a picture on here but cannot find it again of a Scotts pine which had been completely reduced. Just wondering if anyone has done alot of reductions on pines? If so what kind of future managment do you recommend? And what lead you to decision, etc.
  23. Looks like a good base layer range, used to wear the canterbury stuff when i used to play rugby. but in recent years just kind of wore t-shirt and jumper. Notice any difference when wearing one and not? I may route through my draws to see if my old one is still alive.
  24. How did you get on with your new treeflex? im currently using a comet dragonfly but am looking to retire it?
