  1. You've lost me a bit at metal wraprounds:confused1:. Maybe im not thinking right:blushing:? I've just purchased the steel twisted ones with the velcro wrap around? So what do the metal wrap arounds look like as i've never seen them??
  2. Well i decided to go for the twisted shanks with a velcro wraparound top. Great price too from Gustharts.
  3. Sad day this week my bashlins from the 50's:lol: snapped (left one did). So i've been on the lookout for a new set. Decided not to go with the geckos after having a play in them last weekend. So its bashlins again, steel probaly but what the heck is the diff between normal and twisted shanks?
  4. So you can claim physio because of work injurys i.e i got a chog throw out of a tree that hit my hardhat resulting in serious whiplash. Part of my physio would involve going to the gym to re-strengthen my shoulders to stop a relapse in the muscles. Is that gym membership claimable because of a work related injury?

    Hello

    1) try the princes trust. If you qualify you could get some money. 2) Always new climbing kit as you know what its not been used for (pulling trees over with a truck) Go to the arb fair try lots of harnesses/ what you like a college 3) I'd prob work for someone else on the odd day to get your level of skill/experiance up. hope this helps
  6. Do you use the coarse disc? this is the website i found with them on Classic Hand Tools Limited - King Arthur's Holey Galahad Tungsten Carbide Discs
  7. So i recently was speaking to a guy who makes furniture out of reclaimed products like rocking chairs out of cable drums. I asked him what he used to sand them with thinking orbital or belt sander...... Well no, he uses a angle grinder with a rough head. It doesn't block up like a belt sander and lasts much longer than sandpaper!!! So im going to borrow a grinder off a mate and have a go. Anyone else came across things like this? Also as i can't be bothered to add another thread:laugh1:. Anyone using bees wax as a finished coating? if so any good?
  8. If it breaks you went too heavy:thumbup:
  9. Forgot to mention used my bargin 088 on it and shes a dream! The 395 would of certainly struggled.
  10. Thats some skill cracker:thumbup:
  11. Im thinking of a nice oak table because the are quite wide so no top joints.
  12. Felled this oak probaly about 6 months ago due to ganoderma. Was working back in the wood yesterday and started cutting up the decayed sections till i found solid wood(ish) then milled the rest to make a table/something else:001_cool: Had to get the old man to help load them up 3" by 5'6" is somewhat heavy.
  13. That yew look superb, the elms grain was really pretty too.
  14. If as you said earlier in the post it won't be massivley used why not buy 2nd hand? . Anyway as i was saying i paid £400 for a 088 (only 3 years old) 2nd hand with 2 36"bars 1 full chizel chain and 1 ripping chain. Fortunatly i knew all the history of it and pretty much how many times it had been used over 3 years. That way you've got a big saw that if need be you can put a 30" to a 3 1/2 ft bar on it, rather than buying a new saw when you get big trees. Just what i've learnt (hence why i own a 395 and a 088). I own a 395xp with a 30" bar and she runs as good as any 066 ive used so i think either is good just personal preference.
  15. Hitchclimber with a howards. Nice flows freely and grips very well as soon as weight is applied. Lockjack if you've got the money and time to get used to it.
  16. As the title says. This is a free program that works much better than windows movie maker and live movie maker. The perks of this program is that it removes the need to convert to mp4 for higher quality. This also stops pixel corruption as you may have noticed in some of mine. Video Editing Software - Edit Videos, AVI, Movies and Add Music Enjoy:001_tt2:
  17. Once the bark falls off it leaves a lovely texture. Not sure its good for production wood but easily good enough to be planked with an alaskan/mini mill combo for benches etc.
  18. WOW! that was some seriously large bits being rigged down at the end:thumbup:
  19. On the plus side think of all that timber....planks, posts, firewood...... Seriously that a scary thought that a lot of our mighty oaks could be wiped out!
  20. Great video:thumbup: forgot about vertical speedlines on taking chogs down spent too much time rigging them off...
  21. I did i on a twice a month going to Ely. Worked full time as a climber too, although i'd say goodbye to your whole of sunday as you need to set aside a day to get your research done. I did take a week off proir to the exams to study and well it must of helped as i passed. Pre managment day is a must too, bit pricey but atleast you get to mess up and not fail.
  22. At 7.22 on the work climb you can see the Ocean Polyester not gripping
