  7. James, Sorry i didn't catch up with you on sunday was roped into doing alot of spiking as not many people were doing it on sunday. I think i went up the pole 17 times in a hour..... Nice pics, like the one of the kindling tree:001_tt2:.
  8. Not that im aware of its about the quickest time + best score yes. But mainly you have your own run and your own time is recorded personal goals i think mine was to do it in less than 12mins i did it in 10.04mins so well chuffed.
  9. Its quite unique in some sences as we start at the bottom of the tree unlike the isa-tcc's which are on much bigger trees and start at the top. The zipline was great fun to do but also very hard work re-connecting at the end of the climb.
  10. Me doing the pole climb [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-AjUt4oQac]YouTube - Pole Climb -Cutters & Climbers 2010[/ame] And the work climb (there is a zipline in it!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtGXtfopO4U]YouTube - Work Climb- Cutters & Climbers 2010[/ame]
  11. 22k was what my starting rate band was as a crew forman after 6 months trial 23k then 2 years later i was on 25k no work truck for getting to and from work tho. That was for running a crew of 4. No H&S the Supervisor did all that and holiday times etc.
  12. Just had my first real go at pole climbing (40ft)! very, very good fun. Any info on other pole events would be nice if anyone could point me in the right direction?
  13. It was a bit weird actually as the company i 1st worked for had the contract and 10 years later i have it.
  14. Wheel clamp! Seen too many cases where people put a hitch lock on only. Easy, piece of chain wrapped around the A frame and off they go.
  15. Another cedar reduction from today.... This one decided to top itself a number of years ago.
  16. Cedar reduction from today this was a tree i removed a storm damaged branch from 10yrs ago my 1st tree i ever worked on as a arborist. The tree needed to be reduced as the buildings are being torn down in 3 months or so, so the LA wanted the lateral limbs reduced.
  17. Thats better. Wouldn't want confusion now:laugh1:
  18. Isn't it just Arbtalk not Arbor talk?
  19. Are you located in norwich?

  20. Oh is anyone going to take their helmet camera? if not ill bring mine up on sunday.
  21. Yep running bowline around the stem below your work strop and you can even put the fig8 in for your decent later. Smaller bits is a good point. Just remember don't panic! Is that a skylotec harness i spot too?
  22. So you say its going to take a day for 2? well start their and think how much profit you'd like to make from it? How much hassle too? £400 for 2 guys and a chipper for the day + 10% profit £40 + £100 hasssle. £540? Just an example tho.
  23. As were all aware summer is on the way. Clearish skies, warmish days, Sunburnt skin! Well some may know that sunburn should be in a risk assessment. some may not know. As an employer you should take action to resolve this as best you can. I.e. T-shirts to be worn at all times etc. Vest tops will not cover this! So suncream is probaly your best bet. Most shops have a buy 1 get 1 free at the start of summer. Unfortunatly this is mainly for the nivea type ones that require re-application every 15-30 minutes as it rubs off:thumbdown:. I have been using Riemans p20 now for a few years 1 application per day apply and leave to dry for 15mins then you can put your top back on or off all day long. I thought i'd raise this point as a good friend of mine who never used suncream, sometimes got a little bit of sunburn has now had 6 moles removed off his shoulder and back because they changed to potentialy cancerous.
