  1. Thats interesting. What has narrowed it down to these two? Personally think the ISA is worth at least a thought. So from my pov I would say that AA tends to favour consultants, ISA favours Arborists, ICF I really am not sure what they do in terms of aboriculture
  2. Yawn.........wossup? Do it, might even lend you the book. We may yet be having a kind of relaunch at the Kent bash, where I will be able to answer questions etc etc passed that check ISA website for general info. You pass or get a free retake
  3. True. The whole idea behind the CEU's or Continuing Educational Units is you keep up with current issues, legislation good practice etc. Virtually every area is covered from first aid to refresher courses including inhouse training, as well as seminars, climbing comps and indeed the articles from the Arborist News - which you can take online. 1CEU= 1 hour of seated learning. 30 are required in 3 years, how hard can it be? The hardest thing is to actually fill out the CEU submission form
  4. What do the clients want, then work with it. Give them options, tell them what you would do if it were your tree.
  5. Er I think if my Biblical knowledge is correct he didn't do it by choice.
  6. Howdy, I am certain he has bought it, it's just nobody is qualified to use, so I'm told. LOLER I did mine with Kevin Moore

  7. Winter Stretch air, which are incredible trousers, summer sthil hi-flex c, but really really disappointed how they wear
  8. Well IMHO, I believe it is already present in the wood, and will only begin to grow when conditions are right. So ash, main host, with this on is probably more then likely already stressed for some reason and the fungus then takes advantage.

  13. It is to do with an EC member agreement, Did ask them and have a reply somewhere. Anyway boots are VAT exempt I have noticed more than one company adding VAT, so too are complete helmets (those than include ear muffs etc), but not accessories (just ear muffs etc). Books too. Here is the link HM Revenue & Customs: Rates of VAT on different goods and services
  14. Highly recommended as a life experience. a lot of us have been out there as too many others nationalities. They know how to keep you down wage wise, never the less fantastic place. Join ISA, try Treescape I think still the largest company out there.
  15. Jean in the office is best bet for the study guide; 148 Hydes Road Wednesbury West Midlands WS10 0DR United Kingdom 0121 556 8302 [email protected]
  16. As an Assessor I alway say that I am there to pass a candidate, it is not necessarily the perfect recall of information that we are after. An assessment can be something to learn from, you have just got to be safe, if you stuff something up, it is how you get out of it safely, know why move on. I trap my saw, slip in trees, forget information, but at the end of the day I'm (fairly) safe, do the job and know where to find info, and not bullSh*t. There are a huge number of dyslexics in arb, the draw I guess is an increased ability to do a practical job well and dare I say it more artistically. You will do fine, trust your training, equipment and your ability
  17. Excellent: fortune favours the brave!
  18. More than probably likely Ustulina
  19. There's a girl in Manchester that's got a great but, cheap too!
  20. Just got oregon on next day delivery £42 actually bought a spout valve thing for £6 as well, dunno why I didn't think of it before, saves loads of oil spill. Service good price maybe not so but didn't have to get it my car to get it! Recommended
  21. Actually think I might get one too, in a band wagon kinda thing. Rob D??
  22. This kinda carries on from from the Oyster mushroom pics I posted. So I was quoting for the removal of 2 horse chestnuts; 1 had the incredibly tasty oyster on it and I persuaded him not to fell it completely, sent in the quote. Today he rings up giving me the work and asking if I can get the other tree (coming down to proximity to a house) to grow the same mushrooms! Really good result
