  1. does anyone know where i can get a second hand stumpgrinder from? nothing too big mostly for domestic stuff, id like to get an idea how much they cost.........
  2. ive got an 2004 transit 90 which i use everyday as my work vehicle and my going out vehicle as its my sole means of transport apart from the gf's car which i hardly ever use. its not as bad as everyone makes them out, ive took back seats out so loads of room for tackle its not so bad, it does take allday to get up to speed when chipper is on and its loaded however it is a van not a ferrari. but...if i were to get another id deffo get the 115 one singlecab though and cut the body down and make a storage box that bolts on the chasis because 1 the turning circle on a crewcab is huge and 2 you can never fill the back fully up anyway not unless you wanna get fined by vosa!

    cramp

Its in the base of my fingers and it gets worse when its cold. I did a crown reduction today and half way through I gripped my main line and advanced the tree went to let go of the rope and my fingers on my right hand wouldn't let go of the rope. If I could find some gloves that would help I think but most aren't suitable.

  8. Think the best thing would be to knock on some doors and try speak to the head master
  9. Has anyone had any experience doin tree work in schools? A friend of mine works for the local council and they seem to do it all! How do u get into doing it or is their reasons why only the council do it?
  10. I did my cscs a few years ago and i knew nothing about the building trade or of health and safety on building sites as id neva been on 1. went into the exam doing no revision finished it in 15 mins and passed! only got 1 question wrong.and out of all the sites i went on not 1 person asked to see it! infact some sites even made you sit a small written test before you could enter the site regardless of if you had a cscs or not!
  11. Ive been offered 1 acre of land just outside leeds at the moment its just grassland with good road access. Ive been told to make an offer! ive never bought land before so have no idea what to offer! what you think?

  13. has anybody had much experience withe either yellow pages or yell.com? in your own experience do you get much work from either? and is it worth the cost?
  14. Yeah mine is the same ruggerini all 8 mounting bolts went! Had to remove all engine and drill them out! Nightmare! Is yours on a plate that slides so you can tension the belts? I've fixed the mounting bolts now I've noticed that the 2 threaded bars that slide the engine about 1 of them has broke! Such a poor design. It looks home made mine just wundered if the rest are the same?
  15. so im having constant problems with the engine mountings breaking! has anybody had the same problems or managed to overcome them?
  16. field guide i think with the most common species with really good photos leaf shape, bark in detail and natural shape???
  17. what would you say the best tree identification book is? yes im after one...
  18. its about 30 foot tall im surprised its still alive considering how much was cut off before! basically cut in half! think fell and replant would be the best option!
  19. so phone rang customer wants a multi stem sycamore dismanteling and a silver birch pruning! the birch has been "pruned" before! well basically its just been cut in half "butchered" would be a more fitting word! now my problem is 1. ive not had much to do with silver birch before 2. my understanding is that its a tree that doesnt really like to be reduced much and 3. i dont want to do what's been done before and put my name to a job that looks like a pigs ear!!
  20. so ive finally got the bleeders out after a can of wd40 3 stud extractors 2 drill bits and lots and lots of swearing!!! time to sort that frickin roller out now!
  21. yeah it is that engine...ive already got it out and arent having much luck with the stud extractor 3 are out and 5 will not budge! got a friend that owns an engineering firm sorting it for me! big ammer did you just replace the bolts or did you modify it some how? i think its a really poor design.
  22. Ive got 3mm alloy sheet on my transit chip box and it works fine. So far i havent dented it! If you put enough support behind the sheet it should be fine
  23. ive soaked them in wd40 tonight ready for tomorrow! its a seriously **** design all the newer engines have mounting plates on the side for easy access
