  1. i got pulled over by vosa last week in a 7.5t wagon..was over on the front axle by 600kg and under on the back! was 400kg overweigh overall! i didnt have my tachos with me nor my digital tacho i got fined £200 for been over weigh! £200 for not having my tachos the wagon was imobolised over night until we could get the excess weight off! the men from vosa said they arent allowed to work overtime anymore due to cut backs and unless i could get another wagon there in 30 mins the vehicle could not move untill i produced my tachos @ 7am the next day! i was in spalding lincolnshire and our yard is in rothwell leeds!!!! 30 mins!!! oh i forgot to mention the £400 was me personally and the firm also got fined £400 aswell! luckily our gaffer is a good bloke and he paid my fine aswell! they didnt check condition of the wagon or anything! dunno if the fines are the same for anything under 7.5t i would asume so though! been overweight is still overweight no matter what you drive.

    stihl ms341

must just be 1 of those things then...dont know about you but i always thought the idea of a air filter was to keep the crap out not let it in

    stihl ms341

I bought a new ms341 a few months ago and ive noticed when i take the air filter off theres really fine dust on the inside! its seated properly and theres no holes in it or the filter housing! the only thing i can think of is the button that pops out to let warm air into the carb even when its shut theres a huge gap between it and the filter housing i cant see the point of it myself it just seems to allow the dirty air to bypass the air filter! asked stihl dealer an he said he had neva seen it before! any ideas?
  6. farming! oh dear some people really are clueless.
  7. Arbor tree surgeon's for a buisness name? Or would it be like tree tree surgeons as my understanding of Arbor is tree in latin??? what you think?
  8. Do you think 1 of those skip covers would make a good chip box? ive bought a transit tipper van and the back has wire mesh greedy boards on the back with angle iron round the edges then its bolted onto the sides. So as im short on money i thought about bolting two cross members from one side to another to give the sides more strength and stop them flapping about. The idea was to stretch the skip net over the sides and over the top tuck it under the greedy boards and tie wrap it onto the top! Hope that makes sense! i thought it would be perfect as no chip could pass through the sides because the holes in the mesh is so small and it weighs next to nothing apart from it looking a bit tatty i cant see any problems with it? any ideas? Could put ply wood up the sides and maybe use that on the top just to make it look a bit tidier?
  9. cheers lads thanx 4 the advice
  10. thanx peter for the advice
  11. I just spent all day cutting some willows down and same again tomorrow and theres quite a bit of wood come off it i started cutting it into small sections and was going to start moving it with jcb before someone said its not really very good for burning but now i know i can dry it out and throw it on the fire cheers.

  15. yeah i was thinking somewhere around £10 a load. ive also considered paying so much to rent some space for the whole year but ive come to the conclusion that if theres not much work comming in im still paying for that space for nothing.
  16. Ive just started up on my own and have asked the farm where i used to work when i was younger if i could tip all my chip there im just wundering what you lot pay for your tipping? its a transit so prob a tonne of chip "roughly" per tip. what you reckon i should be paying?
  17. whos this TRUST everyone keeps mentioning???
  18. is it me or is van insurance getting out of control? ive got an 04 transit crewcab tipper valued at £5000 with 9 years no claims 27 year old so ive neva claimed nor had an acident! fully comp is £1300! 1 company actually wanted £6495! thats more than the van is worth! just wundering is £1300 the norm or are you guys paying more/less?

    Ldv

are ldv's really that bad? ive been looking for my first chip truck and ive mostly been looking at fords but after hearing lots of bad things about them and the second hand prices are really expensive for what they are! ldv seems a basic cheap alternative. also is 90bhp going to be ok pulling chipper tools etc or will it tow its rocks off? anyone with any good/bad experiences with them?
