  1. That's what am thinking, not so many tippers in decent condition and they cost a lot more than flatbed ones. Atleast i could have 1 built to exact spec
  2. Have you ever had a flatbed truck converted to an arb spec tipper? if so how much did it cost? is it a big project or fairly straight forward
  3. It does make sense yes, simple solution
  4. I do this with a spiderjack but i can never get as tight to the tree as with a prussic and bowline choked round the stem. is there a better way
  5. jeepers that's more than my trailer:001_tt2:
  6. I bought a second hand indespension plant trailer to move me stump grinder about. I paid £700 for it but spent another £160 ish for all new brake shoes bearings and 1 wheel hub all was replaced down to wear and tear. Always better having a look first then you know what its worth to you.

I like that idea. you cant get the feel for a machine in just a few hours of use.

I have had my mind set on bandit for the last year now but after thinking about it can i really justify the extra cash for a machine that doesn't really do anymore?

    Stihl ms291

whats your views on Stihl ms 291? i was looking at the new 261 but i dont fancy all that m-tronic pap!
  16. Good advice there:thumbup1:
  17. Yes Tony it would be most appreciated...top notch job there
  18. Its quick and the client is saving money...what more can they ask for
  19. exactly
  20. Trouble is i get no job satisfaction working for somebody else, that's 1 of the good points of doing things your own way.
  21. I really enjoy doing tree work but lately ive been thinking is it really worth all the hassle! People round here seem to be working for nothing and i cant compete customers don't seem to care how good a job you do and would rather save a few quid and pay some numptys to do a crap job! Kit costs a fortune, fuel in everything you all know how it goes. Overheads are huge even for a 2 man team...we have been doing alot of fencing and i don't turn as much money over but when its all worked out as overheads are lower we are actually better off:thumbup1: plus at the end of the day in not faffing about cleaning, checking, servicing kit when i could be spending time with my other half. Is it just 1 of those days or does anyone else think like that?
  22. thanks for that...its exactly what i needed a picture says a thousand words. Does the deck boards actually fit onto the steel? Or is that to finish it off
  23. We've curved timber before by putting loads of little cuts along the back with the chop saw worked really well but i don't think it would be much good with decking. I will get me thinking cap on.
  24. yes the curved timber underneath the decking board has to be load bearing as it will be walked on as you step off the edge. You will have to use your imagination on that 1
  25. Its not a good idea if its done incorrectly. Just because its tanalised doesn't mean it will last forever. Most people just rush ot and do stuff on the cheap the raised fecking i did at the end of the garden was creosoted underneath and was sat on brick pillows.
