  1. Price per metre labour only on labour+materials? never priced that way before
  2. Thats not bad, would probably still use the pasloade for fixing rails and pneumatic for boards. last job we did i put over 4000 nails in the boards alone! so would be cheaper.
  3. What size nails does that take? and whats the magazine capacity? i used a big old thing years ago that took a huge coil of nails, good for continuous working but not for your shoulder lol
  4. Pollution control?
  5. Looking for a pneumatic nail gun to run off a compressor, as the pasloade ive got seems to be expensive for nails in comparison. what would you recommend?
  6. Stupid question but besides the obvious what should a health and safety pack for tree surgery contain? RAMS and ???
  7. As far as i know its all feather edge and a few trip rails. thats all i got atm.
  8. We have recently been asked to quote for tree removal on a new build site that is marked for future development. After speaking to the project manager today he has asked if i would be interested in doing any fence erecting on this same site. I have come away with a site plan and would give it some thought as we are pretty busy at the moment. The fencing work starts mid November so would be an excellent source of work over the winter period. my question is have you ever done fencing on a big site 60 houses in total and how did you quote for the work? per metre? per house?. work wise we can handle it its stuff we have done lots of, would probably mean setting a labouror on part time, but the most i have ever quoted for was just over 180 meters across 2 new builds.
  9. He didn't actually have the part in the end, well he had 1 gear but wouldnt part with it as he wanted it for another project. but he did put me in touch with a Valtra dealer near Emily Moor who had the right gear. cost me £100 for a brand new gear load of o rings couple of keyways and a nylock nut. bit steep i thought but i would have still been looking had i not bought it.
  10. New hydraulic pump, serviced the whole tractor filters oil etc, removed a shim, adjusted the pressure relief valve and hey presto 2000 psi and that's not on really high revs. Just need a few more bits to attach it to the link arms

    tree ident

    Thats the 1
  12. What species of tree is this?
  13. And as treequip said after seeing how the system works on matter how good the filter is it still wouldn't change the pressure.
  14. After speaking to an old boy who actually worked on these in their hay day, he has advised me to remove a shim on the pressure relief valve as it mite be blowing off too soon. if this doesn't work then its new pump time. the new pump should be ample for the splitter i want to operate. :thumbup1:
  15. And the the job lot comes off the rear end? I have been told to renovate the shims from a relief valve above the pump. do you know anything about this?
  16. Is it difficult to get at or is it just a case of removing the housing around the PTO?
  17. Not yet, i have just serviced the engine and have drained the transmission fluid. think i mite have a look at a new pump because the 1700 its knocking out isn't enough for the little splitter. I haven't looked into it much but from what i can gather the pump is located under the pto? have you messed about with 1 of these before?
  18. If i replace it with a new pump 1 that is the same as what on only newer would this take it up to the 2000 psi needed? as its in bits now anyway i mite as well look at my options, keeping it how it is isn't of any use to me!
  19. What pressure should the hydraulic pump be putting out on a DB 990 Implemtic? i have heard between 2000-3000 psi is ok, i have recently purchased the tractor and have just tested the pressure at 1700 psi. however i have just started servicing the tractor as by the looks of things it has not been done for a very very long time! could changing the filter/ cleaning the system out increase the pump pressure? or is this as good as it gets? what pressure would a new hydraulic pump work at? or if necessary can the current pump be uprated?
  20. Andy im gunna flush the system out, new oil, filters etc and test the pressure of the pump. been told anywhere between 2000-3000 psi is good. it mite just need some tlc
  21. Hi Hodge what did you have to do to the hydraulics? im not sure if my pump is on the way out, i am going to service the hydraulic system at the weekend and see if that resolves things
  22. Cheers thats 1 of about 100 questions answered:001_smile:
  23. i reckon it will need replacing as the stuff that came out is like snot!
  24. water as in coolant?
  25. I have recently bought a David brown 990 Selectamatic tractor...what is this vale on the engine block for?
