How far do you realistically have to go to cover yourself in the event of something happening? Whatever I have done before it's always being enought for my employer to show me once then that's it, I don't understand young lads who need pampering!

I am a small 2 man ltd company, my employee often thinks that doing things the bone idle way and more often than not the unsafe way is perfectly fine! He doesn't climb and does mostly labouring. He has nptc tickets but the other things he does setting tower scaffold up, ladders on the correct angle etc he has learnt from me. I feel like I have to constantly repeat myself in an effort to look out for his, mine and others safety, my question is if for example he did not set the ladders correctly when hedge cutting and fell, hurt himself or someone else it would come down to me the employer and would me verbally showing and demonstrating how to do something be sufficient in the eyes of h&s? Do you do toolbox talks demonstrations etc and get your employees to sign saying they have understood and will comply? In the event of an accident responsibility lies with the employee.

I recon so...more and more land being developed for silly prices. As with everything the cost usually goes 1 way and that's up. I am fed up of renting, pay peanuts for it but i dont wanna do too much to it because i know 1 day i will be booted off.

Jepers...I have looked on the net religiously for around a year now and stuff of this size in this area is around 6 grand, i would happily pay more for the right piece.

There is just over an acre of grassland within walking distance of where i live, i have being here just over 3 years and nothing has ever been done with it. I have the address of the current owner...worth asking if they would be willing to part with it

How do you find out who owns a piece of land ? i have tried land registry but it mite as well be in Chinese.

Cam and spring just ordered...you wouldn't think metal could be worn out by a bit of rope...yours is worn more than mine. do you use it in every tree?

The body dont look that worn??? cam is in same way as the arrow on the body, that doesn't look bad either...what is the purpose of the spring? on mine it is not doing anything?

13mm...really! i tried 13mm when i first got it and it was horrible! wouldn't self tend at all, kept having to pull it through. 11.5 Tachyon works great with it, if there is enough weight of rope through it self tends

Why does it keep breaking down? same problem?

Its not had that much hammer, i normally only use it on crown reductions etc...before i changed the cam it still grabbed the rope it just slid down it a bit, then i swapped it and as far as i remember it was fine. Rope is knocking on a bit, its not warn badly as i always use a cambium saver with it.

My spiderjack wont grab the rope when i put my weight on it...sometimes its fine then when you don't expect it same thing happens again and i have to push the tail of my rope away from me so it grabs! i don't wanna use it now for obvious reasons. The cam had being replaced not long ago, what else wears out? or what could it be?

try Forst tomorrow, not ideal if you need it first thing! loose wire? sensor?
