  1. had a (think it was) kestrel land next to me while taking a breather up a scots pine, needless to say we both found it unexpected and both had a shock
  2. took 3t of chip off them badboys.. they were well dense, thought there were nesting birdies but just a squeaky rubbing branch haha
  3. what you wingeing about? spilt oil? ..sawdust.. problem solved:thumbup1: works for me everytime i drain the landy oil all over the diff
  4. and today... the ones behind are the neighbours trees, drastic reduction but should survive eh?
  5. arbortion? thought that was when you hang up yr spikes
  6. needed one in a rush 2wks ago, got 1 from a garden centre while collecting some trees, it broke on the first pull..handle was peppered with holes from some kind of woodworm.. under the nice paintjob, fitted it with a spare handle i had and it works fine now, wide plastic head, think it was £7.50 minus the discount
  7. dropping saw in water is no fun, just try to turn it off first, dropped 200T in a stream and watched it roll down the rapids underwater, never seen laddo run so fast to retrieve it, drained it, flushed it, let it dry 2days and it still spat water out the exhaust..:thumbdown:oh and lost a chain-tooth, but runs fine now..
  8. yup but its worth it, have found its best to slow down for them annoying speed jumps the council have installed on every rat run.
  9. no antiroll bar till next week geoff, before the helper springs were fitted the chain used to tap along the road a bit haha, and the towbar and loop on the chipper would catch on steep drives, yesterdays drive was well steep and didnt catch..well happy:thumbup1:
  10. also doing Fdsc at myerscough, nearly packed in as too little time, its not easy finding time but if pushed just do a couple of all-nighters just before assignment hand in date, im not doing it for the bit of paperwork or to be able to announce that i've got this or that certs, im trying to learn to better myself and my business, also to help my clients with their trees etc, learned loads already, could learn all the course material elsewhere by myself but wheres the motivation when you have little spare time?
  11. loaded with chip, nearly all wet leylandii, before it settled i couldn't have put in an extra 1 piece of chip, my guess would be nearer 1.5t, certainly sunk more in the field today. all just a test of course, wouldnt do it everyday..
  12. its been a trials motor for about 30yrs, not mine its my dads but im working on getting it from him, believe its got sII axles and engine, got v5 and was prepared for mot last year but then never taken, he did a swopsie for it last year for building a massive trailer, and been parked up ever since, couldn't resist a pic of mine sneakin in there, drove over this puddle without landy falling through ice last trial in jan:thumbup1:
  13. still looks fake, watch the rope as he descends. i'll eat my words and buy one if its real
  14. come on.. when i grease my nipples i always wipe the excess on the chassis, just not where you can see it..
  15. right got it.. need dampers, antiroll bar, bumpstops, tailpipe, tyres, anything else?
  16. but surely that will compromise suspension travel in the rough? leading to embarrasing loss of traction and funny videos to amuse you guys? my dads got a couple of donor discos, im off to see him next wk for the landy trial, might try one on for a while to see the difference
  17. Bob you would have laughed yr socks off earlier when i let the jack down and was wondering why the spring looked too short, thought Dean had given me a duff short spring.. then noticed the arb style axlestands holding all the weight haha, might sharpen that tow hitch and split them:thumbup1: sorry Dean..never should have doubted you:blushing: good point about the high centre of gravity
  18. I was thinking exhaust pipe after it stuffed itself into a chip pile..roll bar? you guys have them? thought they were just for discos n stuff, saw the brackets but thought nothing of them, spotted damper yesterday, next ones might last longer with these springs? enjoying the longer evenings now its summer, maintainance time methinks..
  19. finally got round to fitting these 2nd hand helper springs to the 110, dead easy to fit, went round block and the difference is amazing, the ride height is up an inch or so and vehicle doesn't lean as far on corners, find out tomorrow what its like with a load of chip on..can't wait, oh can you spot the next job under there?
  20. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p3c1QIs-Qo] maybe this time? sod it.. im off to bed if you really want to see it type 'armchairarborist' into youtube and flick through my other junk to find it, nite all
  21. passed this a few weeks ago somewhere in wales, think it was near bala, probably not the longest but a whole minute at 50mph to pass the mature bit of it, looked like it goes right round the property too..[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p3c1QIs-Qo] Doesn't seem to have uploaded properly yet, sorry folks..Ed
  22. wore a suit to an interview in a metalwork shop years ago, felt like a rite tit when had factory tour, everyone was staring like whats this clown doin? needless to say i got the cruddy job and packed it in 6mths later to work outside where i belong, oh im slightly deaf now but red hot with an anglegrinder..
  23. spotted my first mini chipper in action today, sat on back of a landscpers transit pickup, they were cutting small branches up and feeding it twigs and it was blowing chip all over the place, then all the sweeping up. maybe they were just making it look like hard work? ..fairies
