  1. I take it you dont have a cabstar, so you intend to sell by bag, but you want a comparison? You have been told the size so get 4 bits of cheep sterling board, cut them to required size, set them on the floor to make copy of cabsters back. Fill the it up with 8-10" logs then fill the bags up and you have your answer. Do the work and you will get the answers.
  2. Seen this on another site, pretty much sums it up what could be expected from groundsman. ground workers guidebook.pdf
  3. It is 27hp Kohler. I have a couple of these engines on other grinders and have not had any problems with them. Thats why I like this particular machine. I have a 2.7tonne digger worth approx £10 and for the investment of 5k Im hoping that the Predator attachment would give me a grinder with similar power and capabilities of £16k hydraulic Carlton 4012 or Predator 28 with the added benefit of extra reach
  4. thanx for the info Matt. Is yours fitted with a quick hitch?
  5. Matt, any particular reason you dont use it much?
  6. Seen one of predators grinder attachment at the APF to fit onto smallish digger. The one with engine on it. Thought it looked well built and design looked good. Tried to get them to demo it but for some reason they woudnt:confused1: Any body got one or heard anything, good or bad. Cheers
  7. Hi Davy, Having recently installed a wood boiler in new build, I experienced the very same problem. Couldnt find any body local that could install and commission it. Eventually found guy in Penrith to do it at thousands of £ cheaper and did a good job. Funnily he is coming to Stirling to day for more work and is going to pop in to see me, to make a couple of small adjustments to the settings. I could dig out his number for you. Robert
  8. QUOTE: when it was explained that we are tree surgeons and that is under the same umberela as agriculture and forrestry they decided that they did not have a problem I recently lost an application for planning approval in the countryside because LA defined arboriculture as mainly urban based work and it was not classified as the same as forestry, so the business could operate from a urban based yard, IE industrial estate and did not necessarily need to operate from rural location. This only came to light after I submitted planning for a house on the site i had been using for about 6 years, with no complaints. When they refused me planning for the house they then wanted me to apply for planning for change of use from agriculture to industrial use for storing timber prier to logging, milling, and selling end products.
  9. Looking for set of green teeth. Usual supplier (Liston Equipment) have none in stock and say it will be 14 days before they have any. Anybody know of another supplier that I can try. Cheers, robert.
  10. No Dave they know their time will come.
  11. My log store. One day it will get a roof over it.
  12. That a nice looking little tractor. What dose it weigh?
  13. As title suggests. There are many people on hear that make things, or would like to make things from the timber they mill from the trees they have to fell. It doesn't all have to go for firewood or to Council tips. I'll start the ball rolling with couple of picts.
  14. This will be my first year using bags. Im going to hold out for £60 +£5 deposit for vented bag with mixed species well seasoned hard wood.
  15. Cheers Ray, I put six coats of danish oil on it.
  16. This is the first piece of chainsaw milling and furniture making I have done in the last 4 years. Must say, I had forgotten how satisfying and rewarding it is to take from log to finished product. Made the gate using oak and sycamore offcuts that were lying around the yard from 4 years ago. I have been busy building my house and now getting round to getting back into milling and making.
  17. Thought hard about it. Hole between adjacent trees just wasn't big enough. Anyway got to give the climber something to do.
  18. Done this job a couple of weeks ago. The tree almost split in two on a sunny very calm day, approximately early afternoon. There were quite a few people about and some on the pathway quite close when tree split, but luckily no one was injured. Broken limb landed over two pedestrian pathways and destroyed a fair bit of very heavy duty, ornate fencing. Called out while on holiday to clear up damaged, then returned to section rest of tree 2 days later.
  19. Hi rob, I am looking for new 42"bar and general cutting chain for husqvarna 3120.

Could you call me on mobile 07803591153 with cost and availability.

    Thanks, robert.

  20. Its just a standard grapple and rotator supplied from Caledonian Forestry so should fit smaller machines ok. Caledonian Forestry made a bracket for quick hitch and re jigged the piping and fitted quick fittings, all for £1500. You can change it back to normal digger in two minutes.
  21. My little digger, 2.7tonne volvo. 5 years old, Ive had for 4 years. Best buy ever, might be selling shortly to buy new one.
  22. Made me laugh, cheers mate.
  23. If you managed that on your first attempt you have a hidden talent there mate:thumbup1: Nice set of matching chairs for your next project.
  24. Couple of Acers to fell shortly. This is the worst damage I has seen caused by the little blighter's.
  25. Nice and soft for carving I would imagine, but not to durable for outdoors. Saying that dont do carving but I wouldnt use if for furniture.
