  1. Fair comment mate. Up hear you will be hard pushed to get most companies to work 8hrs never mind longer. Must be hard down there, your working too long:001_tt2:
  2. Im about 5 miles from the roundabout at the end of the M80 where you would come off to join onto the M9 outside Stirling. Thought Caledonian were on holiday till tuesday?
  3. I keep all my gear in tip top condition, fresh, clean and well looked after. operators would be reliable, enthusiastic and hard working or I would KICK their ass. look forward to your call Stephen:laugh1:
  4. Is it the fact the chipper comes with the tipper that is making it sound cheep? Its only because it would be my son operating and unfortunately due to his young age I only insured him for one of the older tippers, thats why it would be with tipper. Extra tenner for grounding
  5. QUOTE the tipper/chipper combi is CHEAP!!! Think realistically what the machine costs you to run an hour include depreciation and fuel costs, add a decent wage and you will want more than that. I get near on £50 an hour to include removal of the arisings from a number of landscapers (minimum 2 hours). What you have to remember is they usually deal with small trees/shrubs/similar which often contain stuff which will blunt your blades alot quicker than limb after limb of nice clean hardwood. Up your rate and make it hourly not daily and you will ensure you are working when there and not sitting waiting for stuff to chip. It sounds a lot of money but when they see what you can do in an hour they will come back, also they will be organized or it costs them money. I initially argued my price as being able to clear 2 £100 skips worth in 2 hours hence saving them £100. It's easy money I did wonder about charging by the hour. It dose take a lot of brash to keep the chipper going for full day. QUOTE cant comment on the rest of it really BUT a 3.5 ton tipper with a chipper and an operator for £160 is too cheap mate imo. Cheers Mozza, what do think is a reasonable price? QUOTE how long is your "per day" also why is there £50 difference between a Volvo 2.7 tonne digger for digging and a Volvo 2.7 tonne digger with timber grab and rotator for lifting/stacking, digging will ware out a digger faster than lifting stacking which has much lower forces. b101uk. Would had thought working 8hr day including traveling. To stay competitive with ordinary digger I thought of this price and with the grab slightly more specialized and to justify the extra cost of grab charge £50 extra
  6. I run a small outfit and have equipment that frequently sits idle. Selling is not an option because certain contracts I have I need to have access to this machinery, normally different machines at different times. I am thinking of hiring out some of the machinery with operator, to other companies, some of who have asked me to do this in the past, but at that time I had other commitments that would not allow me the time. My problem is that having never hired out machines only to other companies, a lot who a landscapers, I am not to sure of what would be the current price to charge in to days market. I dont want to charge too much and lose hires but I dont want to sell my self too cheaply. I have in mind some figures and would appreciate any comment from anyone. Valmet 6400 front loader with 11tonne botex trailer, 560tl trailer mounted crane £350 per day Valmet 6400 front loader with tp200 woodchipper £275 per day Valmet 6400 front loader with 31/2 tonne winch £225 per day Volvo 2.7 tonne digger £160 per day £210 with timber crab and rotator. 31/2 tonne tippers with 6" timberwolf £160 per day Above prices include operator, but I am not sure about the fuel? Thanks to all comments in advance. robert.
  7. Matt, I had the same problem as your having when I was looking for tractor with front loader and timber trailer with crane, at the end of last year. Spent so much time trying to get everything to come together. Ended up getting refurbished Botex trailer and crane from JP Willson and half mile up the road from them is T Anderson & Son 015566 610282 where I got tractor. I dealt with the son Graham. They were main Valmet dealers but are now only second hand dealers specializing in Valmet. Had loads different sizes and price when I bought mines and he picked up the trailer from Willsons and deliver it free with the tractor. Absolutely great service and definitely recommend them.
  8. When i first seen it i thought it cant be real and must be some sort of spoof. Whats happend has the driver been up at court.
  9. Like the Pict's of the brash hitting the ground:thumbup: What happened to all the brash? not a chip in sight.
  10. This is my Little David, bought it new from Huxleys about 17years ago. It is a complete original, even the paint. I have never had to replaced any parts, apart from teeth and belts and only service the engine and grease where necessary. I still use very occasionally when I have access problems for bigger grinder or if working on steep embankments, where it works a treat. When it was three months old my cousin was using it and pulled it over his foot and he now has 4 toes on his on right foot, maybe the left cant remember and that was with steel toe caps on.
  11. Nice boards, :thumbup1:what you going to do with them? Were they milled on site or is that back at the yard?
  12. I like that Bart, :thumbup1:what did you do to get the dark background? Burn with torch?
  13. I got three calls last week from different people in different areas all asking me if I would remove timber from trees that they had taken down. All said the same thing that they would give me the timber free for me to sell as logs. people.
  14. Stephen ,that is a very handy piece of kit. Would certainly sort out my problem of delivering bulk gags of logs. If only I was a bit busier I would definitely be tempted. Good luck selling it.
  15. Cheers ukminch, no probs with letting it go, have plenty other things in the house that I made:biggrin:
  16. Must look expensive:001_smile:
  17. Not if you said it was a present for her:thumbup:
  18. Going to put this on ebay for offers, so thought I would post hear first. I made it as a counter for a shop that I owned 4 years ago. I have it in storage in a friends house and I was keeping it to use as a bar in my new house, but unfortunately I have no where suitable to put it, that would do it Justis. Its Elm and Sycamore v grooved lining for the center panels and a storage shelf under the top made from ply wood. End panels and top come apart to get them through normal door opening. Even with it coming apart it is still very heavy. Not sure of exact sizes off hand but Im sure the length is about 71/2 ft. could check if needed. Any questions or OFFERS PM. thanks for looking.
  19. Totally agree Dean, thing is I didn't get quotes. I try where possible to use only people that have been recommended to me or if Ive seen their works. I know the guy is good and reliable but just didn't know if the price was high so thought I would run it buy some members hear, as sum seem to do fair bit of fencing. Will have a word with him and see if he will sharpen the pencil just a wee bit.
  20. Just had a look at the Pict's John has posted and very similar but I want small space in between boards. There is an old post and wire fence but I would remove that my self. the digging wouldn't be the easyest as it is a strip of ground next to rough tarred area. Also forgot to mention there is double gate go to be included.
  21. Thinking of getting about 60 meters of fencing done at the house. Basic stuff 4" posts with rails and 1.8m vertical slats dressed on one side of the fence only. Been quoted £55 per linear meter for supplying and labour. Is this reasonable or is it too dear? thanks for any comments in advance. rob.
  22. I would consider entering into some sort of business partnership making furniture and or milling and selling hardwood timbers. The right person would ideally have experience and be enthusiastic, hardworking with the drive to succeed also to have the ability to drive the venture forward. I have lots of my own designs of furniture that I have made and sold. I also have good pieces of furniture available to use for exhibitions or to use for marketing purposes. I have a secure workshop 30ft X 60ft within a 4 acre site. As an alternative option I would also consider renting half this space with use of all the equipment listed below. 3 phase and 240 power supply. Comprehensive range of heavy duty woodworking machines and equipment. To many hand tools and consumables to mention. Mobile chainsaw mills. Arrow smith kiln in 14ft insulated container, also 20ft and 35ft insulated containers. Kiln about half filled with dried timber(Oak, Ash, Sycamore, spalted Beech, Elm) Also approx 6 tonne air dried 2" planked Oak About 75tonne mixture of round hardwood timbers, some fairly long lengths. Round timbers are constantly being brought in. Tractor with loader, telescopic telly handler, timber crane and timber trailer, 3 tonne digger with timber grab, 3 tonne dumper, 3.5tonne pickups and 3 large ifor williams road trailers, would be made available to assist in any way. Anyone interested or requires any further information I can be contacted on [email protected] or mobile 07803591153 Thanks for reading, robert.
  23. What could be better than being able to mill your own wood then build a proper timber frame! Nothing has came close to it if me. Felled and extracted the Oak 3 miles from where I built the house Wished I could have done the whole house but even doing it my self still could not afford to. Look forward to seeing how your idea progresses.
  24. For all kit i have, i probably make more or at least easier money using the 3.5t transit tipper with 6" towable timberwoolf.
  25. Hi Jonathan, Nice boards. What you going to do with the wood after drying?
