  1. arbclimber You have said it as im sure how alot of folk on hear see it.
  2. Nice fell Tim. Any particular reason why it was logged? looked fairly sound for milling.
  3. Grab and rotator rated 1.5t but my little digger 2.6t can only lift about 1/2t to 3/4t I think. That would be more than enough to feed a decent sized chipper. I like the size and maneuverability of it, lift and track about compare to larger botex crane on my timber trailer. Also have only one tractor so when running chipper I cant use crane and trailer,so saves me hiring another tractor.
  4. Bought a few things from them, winch, log splitters and firewood processor. Jim's a easy guy to deal with.
  5. Volvo 2.6 tonne
  6. After having digger for 4 years, finally got round to getting a grapple & rotator. Looked at different kinds of grapples, mostly the non rotating weld on arm and claw types, but finally decided to go for Kesla 1.5 tonne timber grab with rotator. Bought from Caledonian Forestry. They also made bracket to fit quick hitch and fitted manual valves and quick fit fittings in line, for quick changing back to normal digger. All I do is connect the hoses and turn the lever and away I go lifting timber and brash. Well chuffed.
  7. I will have been working in arb for 30years come June, last 20 years running own business. Been through good and bad times before. Things are as hard as they have ever been just now, prices going down, more competition, cost going through the roof. Legislating and health and safety getting tougher, bringing even more cost. I complain about all these things just now, but I think we all forgetting that up until 2007,2008 we have all had our strawberries and cream, with work very plentiful and money coming in to buy shinny new toys with. I think if we can ride this one out by tighten our belts, looking for different customers, filling empty days with other things to make money. Think out side the box, diversify. I'm sure we will not all make it through, but I'm sure a lot will see of this bad time and the good times with come back. Strawberries and cream again soon. Just my thoughts for what its worth.
  8. Tallest hedge in the world. Beech, all done by hand.
  9. Hi mate, you need one of these. I am thinking of selling mine, as my new workshop has 3 phase, and i dint need it now. I think mine is about 5 to 6 KW rotary, bought from Transwave. I used it for running 4 different types wood working machines. Had no problems with it. You could try the add trader for second hand. Good luck looking.
  10. Mate theres a chap selling a ryco 50 with trailer in the classifieds. Looks a fresh heavy duty machine at cheep cheep price.
  11. stump grinding on the same job.
  12. Job i finished on Friday, weather was great and nothing went wrong, or broke down. Pict's taken with mobile so not to great, but hope you enjoy.
  13. Spoke to chap from Lamberhurst Engineering about these. He got new 20H grinder head suitable for attachment to 2.7 tonne digger, delivered from manufacturer in Belgium to my local dealer, Caledonian Forestry, within 3 days for me to look at. Absolutely excellent service. Grinder looked well engineered, but on the small side for what I want. Would cope with smallish hard wood stumps and should be ok for medium sized soft wood stumps and obviously with the advantage of reaching over obstacles when fitted onto digger arm.
  14. to busy today mate, will give them phone friday or monday.
  15. Blaisey, do you have a R&R grinder head on a digger? if so what size of digger you got it on.
  16. Looked at this grinder recently but not had time to find out more info. I'm no expert but I have been down this road before. As far as I was led to believe, the smaller diggers range, 1.5 to 3 tonne didn't have the hydraulic flow capacity to run anything worth while to do job. I managed to source grinder head with own engine to fit 2.7 tonne digger. Looked the business but unfortunately design was bad and kept pulling the grinder to wards the stump to aggressively and stalling the engine. Company said they were going to re design, but after to many attempts to get response I gave up. If SCHMIDT machine worked I would definitely be interested.
