1. Iv never seen a Chestnut with that many burrs. I have never use chestnut for making anything, as said soft and not durable. So no ideas from me, but seems a shame to log it.
2. Had the privilege of running around on these over the weekend. Need to have a word with santa for new arb truck
3. Not to day but done the other week. Some felled into the field and some had to be dismantled.
4. Looking for a freelance climber for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Working in Braco and you will need to have climbing certs. Transport available form Denny. Any one interested call me 07803591153 Cheers, Robert.
5. Ha Ha woody's a cracker:thumbup:
6. Seen this the other and and really like it. Maybe now he can stop doing these crappy Coors beer adds.
7. [quote Oh yes! CITB levy they call it I believe? That's the name, remember it now:laugh1:
8. Eddie, I was told when inquiring about the CICS (construction industry certification scheme) ? with the digger if I wasnt using the grab. They said I had to pay a percentage to them from all money made from labour on site works. Ever heard of this?
9. the cert was insisted by a forestry company although it was for their arb side, until they sold it, so really it was for arb work and I presumed site clearance. The company insisted I would need some type of certification to use the machine, but they didnt know what I looked at CICS ? I think that was what it was called. As I do little to no digging they wouldn't do training or assessment on the digger with a timber grab. So ended up doing the FMO, which ticked the forestry companies box
10. Yeah, I thought it wasn't right too, but to be honest I just went along with it as the machine isn't a year old until end of January 2014. Although I did have to do the FMO for it, if I wanted to work for them.
11. For forestry and arb work with a grab on the digger I had to get FMO1.1 and FMO1.2 tracked rigid and tracked slewing. Also after one year old I would have to have it LOLER inspected .
12. What gave you the niggle to make you dig first? I always ask the customer if services are about and so far never been unlucky to come across anything that mattered, but have thought who would be to blame if I did.
13. I use SG Baker for vented bags. Strip vents and I leave them outside and not had any problems with them. They have a place in Scotland and one in England, not sure where. Dont have their number to hand, but you will get them on line.
14. Eddie, I thought I had seen that machine or one very similar to it. been thinking about a bigger machine for some time. Thought about something in the 8 tonne range and putting a harverdig on it, but I have only seen them on a 14 tonner and thats not really what I want. Im looking for something that can fit in with my tree work and my property development projects. Your machine is a cracker and is going to give me a sore head thinking it over. Cheers, Robert.
15. Now that is a very interesting machine. It ticks nearly all the boxes for me. Couldn't resist a phone call. 55k plus delivery. said it was 70k worth of machine? probably is.
16. Quote: I was doing too much thinking so jumped in both feet. I like your thinking. I think things through far to much and for tool long, mind wrestle with myself then end up taking cold feet and putting my self off. Cracking machine, i like the zero swing. Thought about it for mine at the time but came down to the lack of extra pounds.
17. Stevie, have you looked at the small Volvo's. I cant comment on any other makes as Ive never used any, but Iv had two used EC25 Volvo's 2.6 tonne, kept both for about three to four years and never had any problems with them. Also sold both of them private and made almost what I bought them for. Bought a new EC27 2.6 tonne in January and more than happy with it. I did demo the Kubota, only in dealers yard on concrete. They seem to be really well made and Im sure the dealer said something about they have two hydraulic pumps that would be better if your use implements on the machine, but the model with the same cab size to the Volvo (im fairly large) was over three tonne so it ruled out the transport for me. I move mine with ease with either the transit tipper, Isuzu NKR 3.5 tonne tipper or Isuzu rodeo 4x4. The time your have everything on the trailer I might be slightly over weight with the transit and 4x4 but it sits well and Iv never been pulled and I pass the commissioners weight bridge at Stirling regularly. For the size and easy moving it makes a huge difference on the type of work I do now. NOW FOR THE PICTURES.
18. looking for an extra climber to work with small team. Based in Stirling/Falkirk but cover most of Scotland. Need to be an experienced climber. Must have all relevant tickets. Can offer a couple of days a week to begin with but could offer more days soon. If interested you can email me, [email protected] or phone me 07803591153 for more info Cheers, Robert.
19. Colin, Dose it have to be a tract machine? Most manufacturers of mid sized hydraulic machines do 4wd models. You would get them a good bit cheaper than the tract and they move quicker on the ground and you want get the problem with ripping the grass to bits every time you turned the machine.
20. I can recommend TP200 Manual feed but with a bit of care you can crane feed. And it just happens to be for sale.
21. Went back to grind/dig root plates out from trees felled Tue. Both trees directly on top of main sewer pipes, so whole root plates had to be dug out to install new services. Nice easy day on the levers:biggrin:
22. Cheers Chris, I done some work for them couple of months back. Good guys, they know their stuff. Because its not going to get used often, Im trying not to spend the coin on a new one, so thought I would try for second hand.
23. Im not intending to do heavy work with it. Its to move and roughly spread grindings from large stump grinding jobs, and also to spread and help level top soil for re instating ground on large grinding jobs. Yeah i wondered about the strength of the tines and also the the space of them. I would really want the tines about 2" wide so as to catch most lumpy things. May try getting a large rake made and get it welded onto the lip of an old ditching bucket. That way I can lift then rake.
24.
Hi Paul, just noticed your thread, sure we have spoken before? Im busy just now and could do with extra climber/groundy on some jobs at the moment. Im based in Stirling and Falkirk but can do a bit of travelling at times. Monies not great £120 per day, but you wont be worked hard and usually short days. You would need all current certs, climbing, rescue, chipper would be good but no problem if not. Need to have good experience and able to fit into small tree team. If your interested it would be better to have face to face some time. My mobile is 07803591153 Cheers, Robert.

25. Coupled of Western Red Cedars. Not great photos with camera but fair bit of work in them, three loads of chip in the double stemmed one. Back tomorrow to move the timber.
