  1. Oh and if you haven't seen this months Nat Geographic issue...GO BUY IT NOW! Sequoiadendron giganteum extravaganza, and another composite shot of the second largest tree (in mass) in the world!
  2. Talking to another arbtalker today got me thinking about this film. It was done at the same time as the National Geographic issue on redwoods. Climbing Redwood Giants | National Geographic Channel Apologies if it's been posted before, just thought I'd share incase you haven't seen it:thumbup1:
  3. Nice one Ian. Pretty much sums up what I've been brought up to think and has put me where I am today, in an industry that to me isn't about working to pay the bills, it's about doing something I love and getting satisfaction in day to day life. This is a completely different attitude to a lot of guys I grew up with, one of whom is now in the final stages of a Master's degree, with no idea what he intends to do once he graduates:confused1: Btw that redwood footage was from the vid I was talking about earlier, I'll see if I can find a link to it.
  4. Both RW's, lockjack, unicender, land rover (x2) The only thing I'm slightly ashamed of is the CE lanyard
  5. Be good to get something running, once or twice a year just whets the appetite, must be part viking or something
  6. Anyone got any further with the league?
  7. I'm only kidding mate, there was just a lot of buy a rw comments at one point:beer:
  8. You've stopped trying to pressure sell the rw now though:001_tongue::lol:
  9. I like that idea, I'll be trying that. Cheers
  10. Straight in there! Didn't take you long! Let us know how you get on with it mate
  11. Just put two and two together there, ignore my question! The top eye of the uni I'm guessing OMT
  12. How come you've got the thimble there? Wouldn't you clip into the top eye of the uni for LOTS?
  13. This would be my only concern with the uni/rw setup. Had any issues with that? I suppose its similar to if the rw turned over onto a hitch but never had that happen to me. I've mainly used the wrench with the Lj, which wouldn't be an issue
  14. I like the look of that, I need something nice and compact I reckon. How are you getting on with the combo Dave?
  15. I agree with most of that......singing, that's something in the Thames water mate, watch that:D My Nata never really has a blade older than two months so it's like having a baby chainsaw on my waist, I love it!
  16. ...and on to the new bits! I know DMC Dave posted somewhere in this thread he was trying out the uni with a rw. I gave it a try on the demo at the arb show earlier this year and had to have the setup for myself to try out in a real working situation, without that fall arrest gubbins we had to wear. The uni isn't supposed to wear too well, but I'm thinking that the rw might take some of the friction away, potentially increasing it's lifespan. I'll be testing the uni with and without the rw over the next few months and I'll keep you posted Btw that tether is for picture purposes, it will be different for work
  17. Got some new toys arrived today! I've upgraded to a ZK2 as I've bent my ZK1:blushing: One side of the rope end is slightly bent outwards, you can just about make it out in the pictures. It doesn't seem to have weakened the side plate but no need to take a risk with it, the ZK2 is now in my bag ready for action :thumbup1:The I think it's happened as a result of my habit of dropping through natural redirects at speed. I've also noticed I've worn the main fixed bushing the ZK1, you can't make it out on a photo, but considering its had 13 months of day to day climbing, its held up pretty well, wear wise.
  18. Non bio! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  19. You know what I meant, the one that's not full of nasties. Thinking about it, is it bio or non bio I know what it looks like but can't remember which it is. ...the non evil one! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Baby bio washing powder and not too hot. I wash mine by hand in a big drum with a rope brush, I don't trust the washing machine! Triple scrub and rinse:thumbup: Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  21. Think it's in one of the hitch hiker threads, not this one Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Look through the arbtalk employment forum for other threads requiring staff in your area..... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
