  1. Hopefully so no signs of abuse been serviced every 150hrs all greased regularly no smoke and piped for a breaker but never had one fitted so need to get some couplers for the pipes, I was pretty much set on a kubota kx36 with full cab but they kept messing me about over going to see it.
  2. So after many miles of driving and wasted time people not returning calls and lots of frustration and having to wind in the budget due to unforeseen circumstances I have finally ended up buying a secondhand Volvo ec15b reasonable hours and tidy nick been looked after and all works, not used in anger yet but will be very soon.
  3. Cheers bud I'll keep hold of it but have got sorted now.
  4. Would that be plus vat?
  5. Was looking upto 7.5k, he wanted £6500 for the kubota, £5950 on the Volvo and £7200 on the Terex, spoke to another place in way back and I'm waiting to hear back from thier finance people with regard to looking at a newer Takeuchi 016
  6. Well took a day off today to go look for a digger 150 mile round trip to go see a man who reckoned he had 250 machines in stock and could definitely find something in my price range, to get there to be shown a kubota with nearly 4000 hrs and badly worn dipper beaten up panels and a seat held in place with a plank and bungy rope, a Volvo ec15 that he couldn't start as pinched a valve off it for another and a well specced Terex which I was very interested in had two extra hydraulic services and showed signs of being well maintained, but hours clock didn't work and was a pig to start, dealer seemed to have zero interest in selling anything and in the end just wandered off and didn't come back, f'd off doesn't even start to cover it 😡
  7. Don't do much fencing anymore, sold my tractor mounted knocker 2 or 3 years back now, have got a lad with a tractor mounted that I can hire in when needed, the digger is to be a new diversification/add on to the business
  8. That ones been talked round and round til I'm blue in the face and I'm no further forward, as regards diggers think I'm off for a look round at the weekend, there's bugger all local to here in the budget though, so maybe doing some mileage.
  9. Thanks Eddie, I was hoping to get enough out o the tractor to put a deposit on a new machine but as that hasn't happened im on plan b, I'm leaning more towards a larger machine as have got a definite job booked to put in a hundred metres o trackway across a hill plus ongoing drainage work, the other side is which is going to have wider appeal and also I have to consider that as my folks are selling the farm so worst case scenario I need a machine I can store on the drive at home, which leans me back to 1.5 tonner, there's plenty of tidy canopied ones in the price range, I'm trying to find a cabbed one as it will have to live outside if not at the farm.
  10. I do like the kubotas, not used the smaller ones but have driven 5 and 8 tonners and they are lovely machines, it's trying to find one I can afford, I was hoping to have a bit more in the budget.
  11. Got a 300tdi discovery and a fairly aged 2 ton plant trailer or 12ft ifor Willian's flat bed
  12. That's the way my gut says to go, have found a nice bobcat 323 1.5 ton full spec expanding tracks etc but it's right at the top of the budget whereas 2.5 tonners with low hours seem to be coming up around 6-7k at about same age.
  13. Right new dilemma, tractor has now gone, not made as much as I hoped so got 9k to play with, so I'm now torn between wether to get a 1.5 ton which I'm struggling to find a full cab reasonable spec and low hours on in that price range or a 2.5 ton more choice more power and would leave me some change to get a bigger plant trailer for it and possibly extra attachments
  14. I've got bad lower back pain for the first time in about ten years reckon it's due to spending half a day bouncing round a field on a customers compact tractor as I used to get the exact same problem tractor driving all the time until I swapped the seats for air seats, the old Spring type don't absorb enough shock and cause spinal compression, best thing I've found over the years is once it heals doing some light weight lifting to strengthen it again helps, whilst you've got it movelat cream or similar helps ease it, at minute I've got lower back pain, pain in my left hand so can't hold weight on it, my left knees giving me gyp (years of driving heavy clutches) and my left hip pings out every now and again without warning, ideally timed as I'm up to my ears in work 🙄😄
  15. Got a quote through on a new cat 1.5ton other day didn't seem to bad but don't think figures are going to stack up for me did email for prices on the Sany 1.5 ton as well but had no response, think I'm going to be looking secondhand I'm erring towards a kubota although I do like the bobcat machines seem to get more for your money and more choice in the kubotas
  16. Had the exact same thing with an old freezer when lived in north wales, parked outside and pushed it in, air was fairly blue by time had shoved it across the yard 😄
  17. Forest machinery magazine post some interesting stuff
  18. I'm @purp751 not many tree related pics on there to be honest though.
  19. I am don't know if I'm worth following though lol
  20. At the minute I'm applying the KISS principle to my advertising, wheel cover on the discovery, Facebook business page and leave a card with anyone I do a job for or any new log customers so they know what else I do, low cost and so far so good.
  21. Running two discovery 1's m reg on 148k and p reg auto which bought on 218k managed another 500 miles out of it before engine had a meltdown got another engine to go in it as chassis and running gear is sound 👍
  22. Yep, didn't know my folks had got it til came across it when helping moving some stuff, got medals, and photos from ww2 from both granddad and one grand uncle there is a lot of history to go through.
  23. Have on of my great grandparents diaries, detailing his training etc, not sure if he was on the Somme, he was invalided out after getting gassed, I know we have a Christmas card sent from the trenches too, got to find time to sit down and look through it all one day.
  24. 100 years ago today was the start of the battle of the Somme, lest we forget
  25. Not my job and not naming names but they left a very nice weeping willow looking like a mug tree and 3 very poorly shaped maples one of which has now got 50% dieback in the crown.
