i agree witrh high scale, a bearing on a machine like that, to last 5 years, i wouldnt expect to get more than that out of it, any noise is a bad noise!

Snowy Christmas trees Cars always have a face. Even more so in the snow

We've got a navara d40 with general grabber a/t tyres. In 4wd its been great on the snow so far I would imagine the disco to be awesome!

I had a bit of an episode today. I dropped my mum off at manchester airport and as I was leaving. A Renault Clio was two cars in front in the inside lane of the exit route. It was two lanes and we were coming up to a slip road which would make it into three. In the outside lane there was a taxi. With a few other cars behind it. Everything was normal. Until the clio just touched the snow at the side of the road. Which then sent it into a spin, it went front first into the central barrier in front of the taxi. The taxi braked but still give the Clio a good whack and set the curtain airbags off. Me and the girlfriend were in the naval with all the gritting gear on. I saw all this happening and I couldn't drive past. So I put on the flashing lights and pulled over in front of the taxi and Clio which was facing the wrong way at an angle against the barrier. The taxi driver was out his car and waving to the girl inside the Clio who was in hysterics. He was trying to get the door open. With no luck. I took charge of it all and went round the passenger side door which I could open a little bit enough for me to get in. The girl was crying a shaking and not in a good state. She wasn't injured, she had been bashed on the hip where the taxi had pushed her door in but the door took the force and the airbag next to her stopped her getting any more injuries. I put my arm round her and just started to reassure her and talk to her to calm her down. It worked and managed to establish her name and where she was hurt. I encouraged her to make her way out the car. She managed to get out and we got her to the side of the road. I then found out there were two passengers in the taxi, who were going home from an abandoned honeymoon due to 2 day delays. The woman was severely shaken and had hit her shoulder. The guy was shaken also but was more concerned for his wife. Just after it had happened a guy from st johns ambulance was coming down the slip road and he pulled over and started to help. He phoned the police. I was about to as he asked. My priority was making sure the girl was alright. The ambulance turned up about 5 minutes later. The police about 20! The.police stopped the traffic and a highways agency truck dragged the Clio to a spot on the hard shoulder. I did attempt to drive it as the car still worked but the steering was gone so I couldn't do anything. Me and the cabbie moved our vehicles to the hard shoulder across the slip road. His taxi had some minor front damage. The people in the taxi got a free ride home. But were leaving after we were told we could. We both gave our contact details as witnesses. The taxi driver and couple were very grateful. The girl was taken onto the ambulance to be assessed at the hospital. Some good karma for Christmas I think!

I'll be having three meat on Christmas. Turkey beef and ham and possibly chicken also. Boxing day some more turkey. I'm gonna be a stone heavier by January!

I've used those Showa thermals. Great gloves. I'm using towa powergrab thermo ATM. Good but when It gets wet they lose grip as the tread is quite fine so water fills it easily. Would prefer the showas for my next pair definitely.

would these still be available? ive just bought some yaktraks but wouldnt mind trying some for permanent in my saw boots

alders will still have their cones persisting through winter as normal. However, i have noticed a few silver birch with some green leaves still on. they must be taking advantage. Of what i dont know!

My other half commandeered my stein bag to put all my Christmas presents in! I sorted mine. It extended too much and one section locked out so I just hit it on a wall and it's fixed!

Mark: the job is in st helens merseyside Ray: good luck mate. I'm sure you'll have a blast! Tom: its not far away from me. About 2 mins from the job you helped me on. You've not seen it. It's two conifers and a birch to come out and a birch to be pruned. Some logs to be left on site as customer wants them. I'll have the big trailer sorted for it this time!

The big saw idea crossed my mind at first. Although had no clue where to get hold of one! My second guy slipped on some ice one morning and suspected he broke his wrist. Left me a bit floundered so I ended up spending more time than I wanted to. Plus with it having to fit around assignments and exams and uni days what could have been done in less than a week normally took 3! Customer was fine and I always kept him in the loop with it all. Hama: the first little bit done on the first pic had been done by the customer. He used an old door and some poles to climb up and stand on to cut it! The middle was totally dead and brittle. I got twanged by the elastic on my harness I don't know how many times! Plus it was cold. Left me cursing for a few minutes! Glad it's done. The time I did spend on site everything was goingsmoothly and even though I went over by a couple of days. I still ended up spending less! Happy days!

Haha it was. It had been topped in the past so was all outside regrowth coming up. Climbing it was false economy, spent more time farting around to make one cut it took me 6 hours to do about 25m of one side.

I would burn on site but the farmer who let us use his field wanted minimal damage to the grass. So it was stacked and carted away! Used tractor for one half and a mewp for the rest. Was a nightmare!

Few more Pics. Called in the big toys to finish off clearing away. Turned out to be just under 10t carted away!
