  1. Yeah I'll have to get one and have a mess with it. Just use a blakes hitch on a split tail, lots of thrusting, gets a bit tiring sometimes! I like the simplicity of it though.
  2. Guess it's down to experimenting with it, it's clearer now, cheers:thumbup1:
  3. Hi there. Have been reading up on hitchclimber and vt system. Have found lots of pictures of the set up and things but still a bit confused about how you actually climb with it:blushing: No more need to body thrust up? Do you pull down with one hand and pull up with the other so that the rope runs round the pulley wheel or just pull down. Sorry if I am being thick, just a bit confused:confused1: I currently use a blakes hitch and thrust everywhere:001_rolleyes:
  4. Couple of years ago it was £100 a week on campus or there abouts. One guy had a room with an old couple nearby, they provide accomodation for students at the college, think he got a list from the college for rooms available nearby. I stayed in a camper in the woods on site:thumbup: The guys staying at the campus had a nightmare of a time with young idiots causing havoc all night every night.
  5. Yeah I won something! Think that's the first time.
  6. That can't be what I think it is, I should have gone to Specsavers
  7. Christ give us a hug, I'm freezing, they sent me a fan instead of a heater for above the window.
  8. The Kent has dropped right down now, still high but not as bad as it was earlier. Plenty of places up here to go paddling, got a mate who does a lot, bet he has been out. Get out there while you can. But agree that going to the very worse hit areas wouldn't be a good idea as mentioned before.
  9. I told you that opening an ice cream van here was asking for trouble
  10. It is mad here, we are ok where we are. One of the houses that we viewed about 5 years ago when we moved here is now flooded. The river Kent is huge, going to walk the dogs soon and will check it out.
  11. Yeah only kidding, that's the wife, she stubbed her toe in the kitchen
  12. This what happens when you don't wear your chainsaw boots:crying:
  13. Yeah I like the look of the m400, think this would be my preferred choice. And a small chipper would suit my needs more than a towable one to be honest. Not ina position at the moment to buy one but hopefully next year at some point. I think a crew cab tipper would be good too, for the time when chip is needed to be taken away and logs. But a good small chipper is more important because I do have the van for the time being.
  14. Phew, just finished reading this thread, took a few sittings. Really impressed though, am liking the small chipper system:thumbup1: I was thinking about getting a truck and towable chipper sometime in the future. Have a van at the moment, so could just get a trailer and a small chipper and keep the van:idea:
  15. I did mine at Merrist Wood in Surrey, stayed in my camper in the woods while I was there:thumbup1:
  16. I did a 10 week intensive course couple of years ago. Really good move, really enjoyed the course and found employment pretty much straight away once back at home:001_smile:
  17. Ok thanks, yeah I'll get searching, see what else is out there:thumbup1:
  18. I climb using a split tail with a blakes hitch, works for me. Not familiar with lockjacks, spiderjacks, hitchclimbers, don't even know what a vt is:blushing: Would be interested in trying new things out though. Any photos of these things?
  19. I have Bashlin steel spikes with the twisted shank, very comfy, can wear thm all day with no problems. My boots soles arn't particularly stiff either.
  20. Makes you cringe don't it:thumbdown:
  21. Found it now, was being a little thick:001_rolleyes:
  22. Been looking for the 200t in the trading place, can't find it, am I being thick:blushing:
