    The multione 5.3 machine and grab with rotator on their Facebook page is my machine just before delivery. The grab is manufactured by Hywel Evans and it's a top notch job. Like I said I'll have it out next week for a good testing k a job so I'll post some pics. Jim

    It was me who bought the Multione without a demo. I had seen it at shows, had a go on Avants previously and done a lot of reading up and followed this thread. I'm only a small outfit, myself and two staff and quite happy to stay small. I have plenty of work on and needed a machine to speed up jobs and ultimately save on lifting. The way I see it is i love what i do but am under no illusion that i will be able to do it for the rest of my life. I've decided to invest in the future and when i can afford it buy kit that will make the job easier and more enjoyable. I'll put some pics and videos up in the next couple of weeks with the machine at work. Jim

    I have this issue on a newly fitted stove. 5kw with twin lined flue but has plenty of draw. Really good once it's warmed up but when you open the door you can feel the cold draft coming down. I light it with flamers and kindling only as I found paper creates too much smoke while it warms. The door has to be open otherwise the burner fills with smoke and escapes out the vents. Only 4 bits of kindling and then steadily add one at a time until it's warm and away you go. The flamers are basically wood shavings dipped in wax and go really well. Hope this helps. Jim

    I've had a tree core for the last two years i think. Bought it after reading Adams recommendation and thought I'd try it as it was time to replace my sequoia. Been a good harness but the main thing i don't like it there are no clip buckles on the waist like the legs and it's a pitter putting on and off readjusting. Apart from that a nice harness with good quick adjustment of the bridge to take the strain of the legs. It's a good harness but I will be either going back to a sequoia or watching this thread closely. Jim

    It's just a shame because some of the simplest ideas are the best. Unfortunately what is promised and what actually occurs is rarely the same. My mate works for a high end garage spannering and as a bonus they used to stock pile the scrap and weigh in for a monthly bonus. The powers that be smelt the money and the staff were told that the scrap needed to be disposed of by there means!

    A local electrical firm to me does something similar and I think your on the right lines Dan. Instead of training up apprentices and then losing them to other companies or them going on there own they make them share holders. I don't know exactly how it works but it has tax benefits seemingly and makes the employees feel part of the company not just an employee. I think it's also the smaller things that work and keep interest going. I worked for a big company that asked if we would hand out small A6 type flyers with initials or name on at the street where the job was. When or if that flyer was successful you got a bonus in your wages. Unfortunately it came to an end as calls were being made and work won but the lads weren't getting anything. Sad really.     Can any one tell me the width of the multione 5.2/3. I've looked at the spec sheet but can't see a figure. I know it may be dependant on wheel size but am struggle to find the info. Cheers Jim

    How does everyone manage with transporting the loader to site? I'm assuming it's either a two vehicle setup or a double trip once the brash has been chipped? Cheers Jim

    I usually sell a dumpy bag of woodchip for £30 local. I don't advertise it but if people ask I figure the time to fill deliver and drop the bag of covers it. Hope that helps.

    Lowa over standard army issue leather is a definate. I get what you mean about the sweat thing but always found a decent pair of gortex or equivalent with the right socks far better. Jim

    I do like meindls and had them in walking boots for years and still use as chainsaw boots. Last year I went to get a new pair of walking boots and they'd stopped meindls but recommended zamberlam. I've got to say they are spot on and definitely worth a try. Hope that helps anyone else but glad you got sorted. Jim

    I've been using the still back battery for a while now and found it spot on. I initially bought it to run the battery blower as this use to rinse the ap300. It was also a back up for my other battery hedge cutters. I now run a hsa 94 with it and it's spot on. Really light and controllable reducing fatigue on long stretches of hedge. I found it strange at first having the cord but would not say it gets in the way. Down sides I would say are the initial cost of the battery and if you are having to move a ladder or platform you have to unplug and put the cutter down. Hope that helps. Jim

    Hi PC, That's really helpful and exactly what i'd be using mine for. It's come to the point to upgrade all my rigging gear and the grcs will be really helpful for the jobs booked in over the next 3 months. Cheers Jim

    Really helpful thread as i'm looking into getting either a grcs or a arbpro ld2. I prefer the look of the grcs due to less faff with ratchet straps and a tried and tested device. However as stated in the very informative video the arbpro is ce marked. How does everyone get on with LOLER and there grcs. Cheers Jim

    You will never get a vehicle that suits every job and the growth of your business. If it was me I would get a vehicle that suits you now and then when you build up with work change or upgrade to suit. Two vehicles is a nice set up and covers most jobs but it's getting to a position where you can justify running two. Hope that helps. Jim

    Yes it was the 56 Mark. Had to have a quick look then to check. Was a belting little engine and with the 1m extension there wasn't much that you couldn't reach. Jim

    Isuzu dmax on eBay with alloy tipper and toolbox. 770kg max load and it all looks properly done. In short nothing comes close to a defender but I get where your coming from on the difference in ride when compared to a jap pick up. Jim

    I had the bottom of the range two mix model for years and never had any bother. Used it for strimming, pole saw and hedge cutter with no issues and plenty of power on professional work day in and out. Only reason I don't use them now as I passed them onto my dad when he needed some new gear for his garden and I now run battery. Hope this helps. Jim
