  1. I live here and the chances of getting work from it are zero. There are too many secret hand shakes and greasy palms. It will be the commune men(Local authority) that do the job. Around my commune thats the same 6 men that also repair the roads, paint the mayors office and put xmas lights up. But i'm not bitter......MUCH!!!
  2. spot on, gives me chance to roll a fag.
  3. hello mate I get mine from Sutton printing near Ellesmere port. Prices vary depending on the type/make of t shirt. We have t shirts, sweat shirts and hoodies. Had them for a year and still no fade or peeling. Well chuffed Sutton Clothing Printing
  4. You just can't resist it can you? You'll be getting an alaskan mill next to do a few benches.
  5. Hello mate Im in the poitou charente region in the Vienne 30minutes south of poitiers. where are you thinking of moving to. Sorry if this is derailing your thread Ty. He may end up near you though, in the cold bit.
  6. Hello mate Knowing the French woodlands, your probably right. We have a chestnut wood that we are harvesting, badly managed. We have 1 man clearing hazel, bramble and all the crap stuff all day. The other 2 can maybe do 10 trees each. Thats cut to 1 metre and stack and brash in a pile Bon chance Darren
  7. Same song here, Been on my own for 18 months, i was flat out until xmas then nothing at all until march. I kept busy trying my hand at carving mushrooms and an easter island head. They sat in the garden until the summer then i sold them all at an anglo french market. Its a bit different this year now the customer base is up, i have 2weeks of training at the start of January then some more carving ready for the mad rush in late spring for pretty garden ornaments. It keeps your mind and body active. Chin up Shep

    Day Rate

There are a few other uk guys around and we all charge around the same. A couple of them work with there wives so all the money goes into one household. That makes it a bit more difficult for me to be competitive and get the job. There are a few big French firms with all the gear and no idea but they have the gift of the gab. We are in dept 86, 2km from vallee des singes. I am just about to put a devi in to a local marie for a day. i bet some other guy will do the job with a funny handshake and a couple of rabbits thrown in.

    Day Rate

Working hours 9-5, 45 mins for lunch Sometimes have to travel for 1 1/2 hours to get to work. (rural France) 2 men + chipper 375€ per day will just cover me but there is always the chance of being recommended to others. Its better me getting the work than some bloke that looks after a garden and has a B & Q chainsaw and a wheel barrow with some big ladders on top. Shep
  11. I'll ring you tommorrow mate after i've got my Dad to speak to his cronies. He got the mitsubishi 4x4 19hp compact with bucket and tipper trailer for 3500. It came with grass tyres on the wheel aswell. Cant promise but i hope it makes you jealous.

    trapped nerves

Are you sure its a trapped nerve? The other day i could hardly lift my arm to the steering wheel and the thought of being in a tree for the day with the pain i was in was not a happy thought. The pain went from my right ear through my shoulder to my elbow. I went to the Drs and he believes i have periartharitis (frozen shoulder) or the symptons of it. It can be treated early on with pills or needles. Worse case is surgery and lots of time off. It was a slow climb and most of the job was done with left hand and silky.
  13. Hi mate

Can you confirm the ripping chain for 48" MS 880 has been sent, it was ordered on the 25th Feb.

    Cheers mate

  14. At your age i thought a bit of ballroom would be better.
  15. I find it the best way to avoid this is by closing my eyes and hoping for the best just as the saw is about 3 inches away. Never had sawdust in my eyes, got some nasty chain rash though. Cant understand it???

    Immigrants

There is always the armed forces if they actually wanted to work, but as we all know, the scive to survive lot out there know how to beat the benifit system. Its tragic but they are the ones taking the Great out if Great Britain.
  17. Try the plunge cut stools. Thoresby market here we come.
  18. Aye up pal Did the same as you last year,13 years, trained at Kingswood with Richard Olley. Also did work experience with Andy,Adam and Rubens, Excellent team. It was worth every penny of my resettlement. I found being at the top of a tree or out on a limb gives the buzz of a contact. You will probably find yourself looking at trees differently instead of a bit of cover it becomes your wages.lol If your lucky get a cushy posting that will give you some flexi time and offer your services to local companies for free. I did the big step in the middle of a credit crunch, wife pregnant and moved to france. Business is very slow but i should get my alaskan mill this week to try and make the odd table. In the meantime good luck and stag on. Shep
