  5. Sorry to hear this, this is why i have a disklok on mine all the time as well as the tracker.... Lowest of the low these who take a mans tools
  6. MAybe if you are really interested in tree surgery get a job doing anything else, even if its tescos, save up and get your certs (try Barony College - Very Cheap). Whilst doing this keep asking local arbs and arbs far a field if there is any work, explain your predicament and what you are doing to rectify it. I bet if you was to do the above/work in another industry to get where you want as an arb small businesses will be really impressed and know if they did give you a job you will give a 100%. Sometimes you have to do things you dont want to do to get to where you want.
  7. Is that a serious comment It doesnt matter where you are, thats like saying to the copper i dont have a driving licence but dont worry i only drive on a/b roads as thats not on motorways.
  8. Nice Rod, shows the quality that EW are known for
  9. Hi Paul, i was just looking at the corporate membership, looks interesting and like the discount on training courses, However looking at all your courses you do not seem to cater for anybody up north Why is this ? Also what sort of discount do you get for the Arb Conference, i might give it another try as its local...
  10. If you are busy you could save your time and get it done professionally so it will show up in search engines etc. Here is a couple that are nearly done - Welcome to FairleyArb.com The BS 5837 Report Specialists.
  11. Is this the AA RA on special offer with lancashire woodlands project Skyhuck ?
  12. Our membership comes in very handy, gets good discount and we get alot out of it, go for it.
  13. Why pay for a membership that offers you very little if not nothing....
  14. Your totally wrong im afraid, i could rattle off a number of people i know that have higher grade AA membership that to be perfectly honest are useless..... (not all though) As far as i see it and looking at your application system if you have the letters after your name and send a cheque you are in. I have ten years experience in arb, i have land survey and engineering knowledge, a good understanding of civil & structural engineering and studied architecture at uni. I have a 100% success rate in Planning related tree consultancy. Can you find me someone with a degree in arb gained in the last 3 years that could match this ? I not sure you can but you promote them as a proffesional and i am not in your eyes. I have been considering doing the dip.arb for the last couple of years to rectify this and prove my tree knowledge at a higher level but to be honest i cannot justify this in order to get more letters after my name and to enable AA membership. .................................... In Skyhucks case, do a search and check out the videos and pics demonstrating the quality of his work, you wont recognise him, however you will recognise some of these companies/individuals throughout the uk that lets be honest there work is pants. A qualification means nothing, experience is everything in this industry !
  15. This IMO is when you get it totally wrong. You will let a novice with a degree join even though they have no knowledge of the industry, you can know all the latin names etc but it will never beat an experienced arb with hands on knowledge of a tree. What a big mistake by the AA , thats why you isolate the majority of the industry.
  16. Does anybody have a method statment for transplanting a mature hedge, i have been asked to do it for free by the local vilage to help out on a comunity project. The LA need to know how its going to be done etc. Thanks in advance.
  17. I think he was making the point that a tree officer will not get involved/decide to close his eyes if he sees poor work to trees not under his control. I got it anyway and think its a good point....
  18. Is that Rickerby Park ? Is that the Beech that got a lightning strike or one of the many destroyed by the sheep ? Is that B-Rob you are working for ?
  19. I like the "very Positive Response" statment. Going off what i hear, AA do you not realise that the majority of the industry havent responded to this consultation, they are too busy with the real world and trying to earn a living in tough times.! If you went to every company in the industry you would more than likely get very differnt responses.
  20. Thats going to be great, the AA is basically saying that 98% of the industry is unprofessional, i hope they have a resident legal team as that is surely just going to lead to huge amounts of lawsuits for what can only be described as slander. This makes me so angry, who do they think they are saying that if you dont pay us money to register in our scheme we will say you are not professional...... I honestly belive that the industry will never move forward as long as the AA in its current form is our speaking body
  21. Is it standard 2.5 d, if so it can only be worth 5k max
  22. Some pics from recent site visits 2 Seperate bat roosts in a hawthorn A resistograph on a large beech We named this the lady tree A row of 40 knackered pops due to development damage
