  8. Almost forgot this one too:biggrin: Inonotus obliquos AKA the clinker polypore or medicinally known as Chaga, very very much at home here in the Highlands of Scotland. I think climate is damper but otherwise ecology very similar to mid to north sweden so not a surprise realy. Last image fruiting alongside fomes:001_cool:
  9. Leccinum scabrum- The Birch Bolete, a mycorrhizal fungi, and a rather nice example of it at that. Not my first by any chalk but definitely my best one:wink: (and it will only be the best of the best that make this thread!)

  17. I am currently sitting in the Band B in Perth (scotland) I am here for the ATF (Ancient Tree Forum) "Highland Fling" and I am in Love with Scotland, this place is like nowhere on earth, a slice of heaven, why oh why Have i never been in all my 42 years of life in the U.K? I have been to some of britains finest, oldest, most veteran and venerable woods, Wistmans, Burnham, Epping, Hatfield, Staverton (was hard to top) but this little slice of Caledonian Pine forest hit just about every nerve in my body. Big up for scotland, you rock! Here are just a few tasters of a place that is or rather must be, one of gods greatest moments:001_cool:
  18. well thats news to me bro! I thought it liked it late september october time?
  19. Because no one listens, ive been offering the services on many occasions to do works to trees I love and KNOW are in imminent danger of collapse. I am so angry at the moment regarding this particular tree I am thinking VERY hard bout how to move forward some kind of action plan to prevent any more. I had even considered a Gorilla reduction in the small hours by handsaw, I was that desperate to get the job done right, even had some Gefa aside for it:bawling: The issue is going to be raised and I ain't going to go quietly into the night on it again, they issued a statement that was " No avoidable loss of ancient trees" and Im sorry but it is clearly not changing a thing:thumbdown:
  20. I had dreamed of doing the work it needed, would have done it for gratis too, it was inevitable, i AM TRULY GUTTED. I have lost too many old friends like this of late, last couple of years, its getting beyond a joke
  21. find a sycamore tree, shake the branches over a white blanket muslim say, then collect the beasties that look like little black grubs (lady bird larvea and pour them on the tree suffering! or soapy water or something I would not recommend but others will!
  22. thats a weird time to fruit?
  23. prunus padus, AKA the bird cherry, been butchered and is struggling
  24. nice example. my "guess" would be that the decay (maybe polyporus) has caused a shear crack through diminishing t/r ratios (Thickness over Radius) and the fluting is pointy nosed ribs trying hard and probably failing to contain the flaw
