  10. Not being funny about it or anything, just came to realise that this is not the proper place for discussions like this, its a social thing. Been mugged off enough times to realise that:001_rolleyes:
  11. As for you, well now! she looks far to sweet and innocent to be thrown into the lions pit!

  15. As I understand it there is a lot of potential for tree surveyors on the railway lines, maybe you could use your contacts and prior railway experience to move into this area, at your age it would be a very viable route to go into this industry. A downed tree on the line can cost the railways hundreds of thousands so it is financialy viable to have extensive surveying done to avoid those situations, well worth looking into IMO for you at least
  16. It is a wonderful occupation and very rewarding, but as for supporting a family on it i think your a bit late to be considering the outdoor portion of this trade. It wont match or anywhere near what you got on the trains (40 plus K)
  17. Look on the bright side, were all surviving, albeit just about so. Things are not getting worse, they are stable, and that is a lot more than most have, at least we have stability, just keep it together, work smarter and we will get through it.
  18. Give me a ring anytime, but definatley a few days before the event and we will work out the details. tony 07952 948202 or just PM:thumbup1:
  19. Do you think that K deusta which is most common on beech proves that the two have a close relationship and hence the beech is more adapted to slowing the decay? what is it that makes beech rays so fundementaly different to tilia, betula or acer for example? beech have a high ray count dont they, they are small and numerous in comparison? K deust has not the capacity to generate bore holes in the lumina walls, so I assume it is more progressive in Tilia etc because it can bypass through rays into the new rings as opposed to boring through the walls of the vessels or lumina? as it cannot degrade the pectin in the middle lamella as an alternative route?
  20. I am prepared to pick you up if your prepared to go midday friday and come back sunday sometime in the later half of the day?
  21. were are you based and would you be going up on the friday?
  22. No nothing is ever really black and white, always shades of grey, maybe Fommes is extending its range because of climate change? It would not surprise me, after all most things shift their ranges according to climate and locale condition shifts.
  23. Personally tipping it back would have been better, theres one or two very long slender limbs there, but it is a good job overall. To Spec.
