  1. looking forward to it, sounds like a right giggle/social.
  2. Thanks Pete, didnt spot this post before:thumbup1: Thanks Gerrit, Matt has got some cracking shots there, so are we suggesting that trees can compartmentalise K deusta? I was under the impression it was fairly invasive?
  3. Its just aging IMO:001_rolleyes:
  4. All will become clear in time, this is not the right format.
  5. that so nearly drew me in!
  6. Council of Europe - ETS No. 176 - European Landscape Convention
  7. and there was me thinking they was LESS prone to HCBC, hence its Horse chestnut bleeding canker not carnea canker!
  8. nah, might be watching from a dark room while lying down having a fag!
  9. This is a Scientifically speaking a very odd object. First thing to consider here is that flint is as yet still of unkown origins! I.e they dont know how it is formed. Then it cleary shows a sea urchin patterning, but is totaly flint inside, so whats the story? going to be an interesting thread Gollu:grinning-smiley-003m
  10. Guys, this forum aint ready, and I dont deserve the negative crap, and am starting to realise I am worth a little respect and I am growing a pair! I dont think i am better than or any of that, but im not a feller a timber merchant nor a firewood fanatic, I am no gear junkie and shiny things do nowt for me. Ive just outgrown this box, and need to stretch my wings in a new canyon.
  11. My favourite books are those by Claus:001_cool:
  12. yes I thought of that today:thumbup1: After the responses today on facebook and here I am going to seek a research site through proper channels and probably cease posting my daily business from here in. Its a sad state of affairs but there are too many people jumping on my back about stuff they cant possible appreciate and quite frankly I for one have had it up to my neck. Its time to move on and get to work.
  13. Back off Huck:001_rolleyes:
  14. Heres a chicken on Taxus from yesterday:thumbup1:
  15. There is always something to find and the wet warm spring has seen a lot of them doing a little show. As david says Laetiporus the chicken of the woods, also polyporus squamosus are reliable spring fruiters along with many mushrooms also. We are living in a great period (last 3-4 years) for funting, the climate has been good to the fungi at the right times for many seasons now.
  16. I think it would be hard for any planners to object to such a build on real terms, theres a lot to be said for sustainable building materials. I think if Dean has any "planning issues" and was smart about it he could get round them with some careful sourcing and the right eco plan.
  17. Mate, feeling your anxiety and wishing you all the best, you give that Hodgkins a darn good kicking.
  18. nice images Gerrit.
  19. Comparing a data set of ring counts averaged then taking DBH and working out how many rings will be there. so 12 rings per inch 10inch stem =120 years though thats a bad example as its averaged for old trees from fellings in the kent area not young trees
  20. Popped over to Kent today to age a few trees, this beech came out at 428, probably the second largest beech I have ever seen, stunning. There's a pruning wound as you can see colonised by Polyporus squamosus the tree is in very good health and compensating well but there's some body language in a major union that means its time to take matters into hand. And amazing as it may seem, trametes/coriolopsis trogii on Ash, damn Im good! and a ratherlarge and special Whitebeam:001_cool:
