  1. You know as well as I do that monolith (oak with laeti) will be sound for decades!
  2. Thats all ya need, plenty of practice, going on that lime youll do fine. trust yourself and get reducing my man:thumbup1:
  3. A fair assessment of the situation. However, the branch will most likely be sealed off at the collar as oposed to the stub end, depending on species of course. This year is a good year for pruning it is wet wet wet, so hydration of cells is at maximum potential, the key in functionality and lack of aeration into wounds, better compartmentalisation of DYSFUNCTION
  4. Being a lime it will be fine:thumbup1: you done a good job on that, kept the nature of the level of reduction discrete, a pollard of aesthetic form is what I would call it. nicely done
  5. thanks Mark:thumbup1:
  6. Nice job fellas, really good on ya all.
  7. why did you lick it off jammy? was it written in strawberry jam?
  8. There are sound arguments for and against just about any period regards pruning, I have long since ceased to worry about ANY period bar first leaf budding on certain species and periods of long dry weather which is for me the most important of all considerations. on the whole I would agree with you Here huck
  9. as the man said, bacterial, often indicating cracks
  10. this is special! "trees need maintenance in winter because they suffer from drought due to being less able to transport water" Nature lover(), what EXACTLY are you trying to communicate here? As I for one can make no sense of it at all.
  11. That pebble tool is going to be really useful for engaging arbs, lets hope that dogma does not prevail!

  18. Some of you may remember this tree from posts some time ago, she has an advanced colonisation of Inonotus dryadeus. today I got to reduce her to a level I felt confidant about, funnily enough from the canopy I could see another dryadeus Oak I reduced just a 1/4 mile away as the crow flys. anyways, heres a few shots from the first time I saw the tree and the last few from today. It was looking very chlorotic today, Im going to try to get the owner to let me mulch her:thumbup1:
  19. lol, made me look! im getting a new pup next year
  20. Albedo, seeing you chatting away makes me realise how chilled out ive become! That maybe in part due to withdrawing from UKTC for a bit! you take it too seriously, no ones digging you out or on the attack! RELAX. Good stuff guys.
  21. it is going to be a basic intoduction into fungi and decay, anyone should be able to follow, Im actualy having a hard time trying to keep the balance between too much info and not enough, and not treating anyone like well if its too basic youll think im wasting you time, too complex and I will just send you to sleep! and if that happens I will have to make you drink coffee "till blood comes!" as Claus would put it:lol: Its basic intro, nothing too deep, thats why I am asking so I get a rough idea how deep down that rabbit hole youll all want to go, but I guess we can do that in the questions.
  22. It IS, I never meant to suggest otherwise! would not take his mony anyway, and YOU know it:001_tt2:
