1. I doubt its the heater matrix, for 3 reasons. Firstly it would smell of anti freeze, second, the window would fog badly when using the heaters and get coated with a fine film of anti freeze, and third it would be using water, and start running hot. Had the matrix go on my old Hilux, and since getting a Mazda and having this problem I am almost certain its the sills filling with water.
2. I have the same truck with the same problem, I havent found where it comes from, but it collects in the sills. Get underneath it, in the front of the sills there are 2 small rubber bungs. Pull them out and the sills should empty. As long as they dont fill up, the water cant over flow into the foot wells. Sorted mine out. A friend has a Ranger with the same problem.
3. Another BUMP. I am here and ready to work. Short notice, long term, whatever is needed. Possibly just an extra hand clearing up this weather damage? Have a 4x4 pickup if helpful? Thanks Paddy
4. Bump. Had some interest, so looking to book in work from the 28th october onwards. Will be in the Exeter area but happy to travel within reason. Paddy
5. Hi all, to cut a long story short I am a contract climber looking at moving to Devon. Most likely the Exeter area. Looking for companys that may be interested in my services. Happy to do days or weeks or more. I have been climbing for 7 yrs, got all the relevant tickets. Nice wide range of experience. ND in Forestry and Arboriculture. C+E Driving Licence. Good collection of kit if needed. I have been working in London for the last few months, prior to that I was in New Zealand for 14 months. If I may be of use please either PM me and I will call you back, or call me on 07708931224. Many Thanks Paddy Vero.

super cab

mazda b2500, although essentially the same as a ranger.
7. Any natural fat is best, I use veg oil on kitchen towel. No scrubbing needed, just wipes off.
8. Was on the 6oclock news Friday night I think. Was driving through London Saturday morning and saw a city and suburban truck full to the gunnels with pop. Bet that was this tree.
9. Was hoping for somewhere further north, 120 mile round trip to hire from them. Managed to find someone hiring a timberwolf 13/75, not ideal but ok. Anyone ever got one into the back of a pickup?
10. Looking for somewhere that hires out chippers north of Newcastle. Either a tracked machine or a wee chipper type, all my local hire places have those rubbish canon things that dump it all on the floor. If anyone can help I would very much appreciate it. Thanks Paddy.
11. Thats a Mk 6 Hilux, not that it matters to the thread.
12. I very rarely base tie, but when I do, admittedly there is alot of rope to pull back through the hitch. I dont have a seperate access line, so the system you describe wouldnt work for me. Once at the top, lanyard in, untie the choker knot of preference and clip the splice onto the hitchclimber, usually have to prgess a couple of crotches Ddrt anyway to get my final TIP. Impossible to drop the rope as it is never uncliped for my bridge! I find this simple, effective, and as the thread is based on getting started, economical on gear.
13. I was meaning in the picture posted there is no back up to the upper ascender, unless you count that tiny cord, tied directly to it, so you are relying completly on the croll, not good practice in my oppinion, as mentioned, toothed ascenders are hard on the rope, especially in a fall.
14. I also never use a croll.Makes a nice simple swap to Ddrt at the top, and more economical. Just check your hitch holds before you ascend. Mine is backed up to the upper accender anyway. I like your point that with only a crab it can also be used to decend, unlike anything toothed. That pic posted earlier has no back up does it? Looks like its just the croll as life support. Thats got to be a no no?
15. Blakes? Open Prussic?
16. Sounds like a good idea. I guess you are talking SRT, but add a double pulley and would work Ddrt too.
17. My favourite technique for this situation is to use the tail of my line with an assesory carabiner on the lowering rope, just flick it through a convenient crotch close by, this means you are seperate from the movement of the cut piece, but should something go wrong, the crab is weak enough to fail. Although running it through a carritool on your belt is slightly more convenient.
18. The lower D's on the TreeAustria 2, the Treemotion and I think the Sequoia are rated for life support, so you can hang from them if you so wish.
19.

Hi there, after reading a few of the saw threads, I get the impression you are the man to go to for a used saw. After a 200t, do you have one for sale? Or alternatively what do you charge to recon a saw from the ground up? assuming the pot and piston are ok.

Thanks Paddy.

20. I see thanks. So you are just a climber and a waste removal service essentially.
21. Could someone clarify the diference between hire and contract lift please? Havent heard these terms before.
22. I havent used the grigri, but the grigri 2 is no good as a lanyard adjuster, as its made for lead climbing the cam is held open by a spring, meaning is dosnt lock until it takes a considerable load, so in a lanyard configuration it opens if you release the tension, as opposed to the cinch which is not used for lead climbing, only top roping, meaning it stays closed on the rope if tension is released.
23. We shouldnt really be using anything smaller than 10mm cord in this application, in a work situation of course.
24. Has anyone made a footlock strop out of Ice Tail, using a big eye one one end for the klemheist, or whatever you use, and a tight eye on the other end for harness attachment? So inbetween the splices its just a single line? I made one up using locking brummels, but is this acceptable?
25. Hey Edd, hows the trip home going? Another Tree tamer here!
