  2. hi i work for a local authority on the tree gang and today we were working in wall heath on a slip road next to a petrol station. we were having a cupa in the truck(rude to refuse when your offered 1 lol) and someone started shouting from the petrol station over the road at us, at first we just ignored them thinking it was someone winging about us having a break being council workers and all that. But they kept shouting sounding like cross with jedward and cartman from south park, didn't have a clue what they were saying but then spotted they were wearing husky braces with there jeans! and was in a bule transit pick up. They then pulled of the forecourt doing the were watching you gesture( pointing at there eyes and at us) and we started laughing thinking there were taking the piss. Then they puled there truck into the road we were working in and came over to us shouting this is our area and were working on there patch lol there were only 2 of them so we wasn't intimidated at all by them. but just amassed at the cheek of them as were were in a fully sign written local authority truck etc. i said to him were the council tree gang and these are our trees? he said oh thats ok then he's running all the tree surgeon out of Kingswinford & Wall Heath as thats his patch lol we then started having fun with them asking them what company they were etc, then them said a company that i know off and threes no chance of them being any part of it, so i started dropping names and they drove off when they were driving off i noticed all there kit on the back a 260, back pack blower and a long handled hedge cutter all brand new and shiny. nice for some lol just a shame people are dumb enough to get them to do there trees etc as its just encouraging them and there no way you can complete with them Thanks Simon
  3. ive had to get a oil cap for and a few other bits for mine and used these Lawnmower Birmingham Honda Lawn Mower Stihl Chainsaw Tools Birmingham thanks simon
  4. i would just do the trial day as its shows your willing to prove yourself to your new employer, and that your both happy with the working arrangements. my wife did a trial shift at sainsburys a few years ago and dident get payed for it but she realised she dident want to work there either. so she was glad she did it as a trial.

  7. ive sold 1 about a year ago on ebay and it went for £105 but its just luck on the day you will def get £80 all day on there tho
  8. ive got a cabstar and to be honest i struggle with kit everything on the back and or the hopper with a lock on it. not ideal at all but would lose to much room putting a tool box on. im thinking about getting rid of mine but stuck with what to get next as storage is a must on next truck will probably end up with a transit or canter with under body storage thanks simon
  9. i got the alloy planking from service metals Service Metals Group-Europes leading Aluminium and steel profiles supplier I collected it from the stoke dept they were really helpful, measured my truck up and made sure i had everything i needed.

  11. lol i got the idea from here to looking through the arbtrucks thread and someones thread building a chip box on a ranger or some 4x4 with alloy planking thanks simon:thumbup1:
  12. it wasn't that bad at all to work with just went through loads of cutting discs for the angle grinder tho. The hardest bit was cutting the capping that goes around the edges to hide all the cuts and finish it all off used a mitre block with a hacksaw. i was a bit worried about cutting something short so just kept measuring and double checking everything twice. im looking at getting a new truck soon and will definitely do it again thanks simon
  13. This is my attempt it cost me about £600 for the alloy planking etc and took a weekend to do.
  14. 1st time i used a saw was at my cs 30-31 training, after a few days you will get the hang of it just don't rush into anything. everyones learned to used a saw for the 1st time. when i was on my corse 1 of the blokes had a big head as most of his fells were spot on then got saw trapped and bent his bar. just stick at it and you will be fine
  15. i would put it on a weigh bridge first and see what it weighs empty. The iveco 7.5 ton i drive for the council i work for weighs 5.4 ton with all kit and a driver. so can only carry 2 ton legally and thats without a crane

  22. Whilst at work today i was driving down moor street in brierley hill and caught something out the corner of my eye that make me turn the truck around and have a second look. Unfortunately i didn't get to see anyone up there but would of loved to know if it was homeowner or some local travellers.
  23. This happened when i was driving down a narrow road the bloke coming the outer way saw me and panicked locked up and crashed into me head on. damage on pic doesent look to bad but the wheel got pushed back and the chassis was bent slightly so insurance wrote truck off. im just glad i wasn't in the car that hit me the driver had to climb out the drivers door to get out.
  24. on my 2006 timberwolf its a imo rf501 limit switch. i changed that when i had my fault with rollers not turning but for me it dident fix the fault it turned out to be just the relay. IMO PRECISION CONTROLS|FR501|LIMIT SWITCH, COMPACT PLUNGER | Farnell United Kingdom thats not the company i got it from but 1st one that came up on google
  25. i had a similar fault and was just 1 of the relays on the side or the roller box cover.
