  4. Just thought I'd start a thread for whacking all my pics from college and work and rec climbing. Not got access to many atm but have got loads to put up. But anyway, enjoy:biggrin: P.s Sorry if some of you have seen a couple before.
  5. I think they look like a good quality standard pulley, with a couple of extras. Quite pricey, I think they would be good in rigging/TIP circumstances, looks like a winner for the future in homemade ropeguides.
  6. I think that Masterblaster is around his 50's, think ive seen something where he said hed been climbing for 30+ years so that figure would make a bit of sense. Im 17, one of the youngest I guess!
  7. Went back the other day, its looking alright
  8. Any of you guys seen this? Pretty poor imo [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEz5KsjXJP8&feature=related]YouTube - Tree cutter[/ame]
  9. I think they are a clever tool. Which works well in some respects. But I really dislike them. I think are unpredictable, and slightly risky in given situations. I still see no true upgrade from a well thought out, correctly set V/T Hitchclimber set up. I would rather climb on knots any day, yes they can be a bit shady at times but if It is set up 100% properly. In my eyes Its second to none.
  10. Nice one chap, some really nice work, love the rg, any chance I could get you to make one up for me in the near future?
  11. I'd love to see all that in action Gibbon lol!
  12. Nice one targettrees, sounds like a really good setup. Hope you can get some pics of it in action!
  13. I think jack is a quality lad. He is a good friend of mine, and I respect him alot. I started one year before Jack so in no way am I valid in fighting off slurs about his felling or private work. But he has only been involved with Arb for 6 months. With no real work placement, and only small amounts of practical work at college (It is a theory based course) but Jack has shown so much interest and put in buckets of hard work into his learning. He frequently climbs, recreationally, but not loads of work climbing. He has learnt loads in his time, he has a naturally ability to climb, a very strong lad for his age, he is also very methodical with his work. So yes, he has failed to put up traffic control, it was in a cul de sac. A small take down completed in less than two hours. Yes, his hinge wasnt mint. He still has a lot to learn. I think he should be given the right to a bit of slack as he, Like I, is still in the industry a newcomer. He has done great even getting a bit of work I think. I do though, completely disagree with any negative comments regarding lecturers at Easton college, the 2 main practical tutors there are all top of the game. Trevor Reynolds, A 30+ year experienced Arborist, Is 50 years old. But still one of the best climbers I know, Hes worked all around the world, LA's and loads of other firms. There is very few things anybody could teach him about Arboriculture. Carl Ansell, has been an Arborist for 26 years I believe, owned his own business, covered all kinds of tree care and also Forestry. He is a expert at felling trees, everyone I have met, who knows him well, has said that. They are brilliant teachers and have a great way of really showing you things that matter in the working world. I think they are great for letting students do fells such as that Chestnut, because, yes, they could easily knock it down themselves, but surely part of learning, is actually doing it? They have there full respect from me in every way, and I can say that on behalf of all the students at Easton being taught by them. For those of you on this site who know of who I am speaking of, I am sure you will agree 100%. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, its really not. Its just that I dont like people I think so fondly of being slated by people who really don't know who they are talking about. Matt
  14. Ah right, so its a bit hard to make small adjustments and what not, when you have a bit of rope beneath you? I probably wouldnt want to climb on it after nearly doing myself in with the lock jack, I trust knots I guess! Thanks for taking the time mate. Hope all is well. Matt

  15. Alright chap. How are you getting on with the spiderjack?

Reg, I think apbell on here got bored of it and got a different top handle and was really chuffed with it. Can't remember its name. Give him a pm or something mate. Hope this helps.
  17. I used to have a petzl, but on loan to someone.... Think they are quality, really well designed and give great all round protection, now using a black diamond half dome with plugs and specs, wouldnt go back. super comfy and very well ventilated, stupidly light also.
  18. its a cracking rope, but watch out for the stretch in it, also if you plan to climb on advanced hitches then be aware that tachyon seems to twist far more than other ropes i use. quality line though.
  19. Ive already told him that. Stubborn barsteward !
  20. Your a tight Yorkshireman.. Only messin' Looks like a great way to keep you warm, keep the barn tidy, save the better stuff, and, save money! Nice one Dean.
  21. Quality pics mate, thanks for posting
