  1. Ahh Im with you. Joint venture Dean? haha
  2. Fair point and your right to an extent. I suppose i was thinking more along the lines of people who trap, shoot and manage the environment themselves in a sustainable way. How much does this service cost??? Also how appropriate is the gassing method when trapping squirrels for example, over a large area and often in places that these companys dont cover? Im guessing the cost of this service is more than a pellet, cartridge or rifle round.
  3. Some of these posts are VERY funny! Ive done a lot of pest control and deer management work in the Uk and all over Europe and the quickest and most efficient way to kill things is with a firearm of some sort. Who has got time to faff about with nitrogen and finding somewhere to drown an animal... If your going to target a specific species because they in some way have certain behavourial traits that conflict with our own intrests then at least kill them quickly. Drowning is not the way to go... As for the Rspca banning fishing... They have no chance. Fishing is the most participated sport in the world and it feeds hundreds of millions of people, maybe billions. Good thread guys.
  4. HAHA Love that one...
  5. Tony is right, chainsaw wounds rip and tear. That is just too neat for a saw... Still a good 1 though.

  8. Very interesting thread guys, talking of perfect copper beeches... There is a huge almost perfectly symetrical CB just opposite Wigan hospital down a little road called Maryleborne lane. I did some work there in May and it is a real beauty! Big knarly Hawthorns and beech's are my personal favourites.
  9. Good on ya...
  10. No mate go for it any accidents! Good idea about the photo though. But dosnt look as good now they have cleaned it up and put the stitches in... Before and after photos would have been good! Back to work tomo! Grr

  12. HAHA that u Rob? clocked me good and proper mate... Not been put on my arse like that for a LONG time! Thanks lads
  13. The key to getting permission for structures on a forestry or agriculture plot is to keep saying the phrase- SEMI PERMANANT STRUCTURE! They seem to like that phrase and somebody previously said to get some chickens, that always helps. Charcoal burning is another good one as you have to be on site 24 hours when doing a burn... BUY AN OLD CHARCOAL BURNER AND PUT IT IN A CORNER!
  14. Had a freak accident today... Tracking the chipper backwards in a woodland clearing and i have tracked over an old iron railing which was under the leaf litter. The railing somehow got caught between the tracks and the body of the chipper and shot out of the back at high speed. Luckily it missed my left eye and put 7 stitches just under it,cracking 2 teeth and knocking me out cold... Just doing a simple woodland thin and nearly came home with 1 eye. Thanks for patching me up joe... Be careful boys

  22. 441 with a 20 inch bar is a good saw with plenty of bite. Ran the old 440 on a 20inch bar for years, that was my work horse until they released the 441.
