  12. I was a bit slow there Jack, thankyou for the offer though. I am moving to Scotland next week to start a new job and there isnt many squirrels where im going! I am taking all my larsen traps though!
  13. Hi guys, the majority of my work is on large site clearance jobs and recently they are becoming few and far between. I think its going to get a whole lot worse too, so i started looking for other work around May... I have just landed myself a managers position at a 2200 acre christmas tree farm in southwest Scotland. I viewed the vacancie on a site called Land force. I just thought id make you all aware of the site as i had never seen it before. Its had a few forestry and Arb related jobs on there. Il miss site clearance work, the big machines and felling but i wont miss it more than not working at all. Hard times ahead boys...
  14. Had me to... Good work
  15. Experienced groundsman done loads of site clearance, machinery work, large tree felling etc NPTC'S PTS CSCS UA1 First aid You got a number i can call you on Dave?
  16. To much time on your hands mate!
  17. Indeed it was Hemingway... I havnt seen the new predator film yet, i have been told it isnt that great. Anyone seen it? Samsaw, i did most of my boar shooting from high seats and distance shots in woodland rides that had been cleared just for this purpose. I never did like the driven shoots myself either... To many people, to many guns TO MUCH EXCITMENT! I prefer to shoot alone or in a very small group 2-3 people. Get to Norway for that Moose mate, you will love it.
  18. I was always an outdoor sort of kid when i was growing up so it was no surprise that i went to college to study Forestry and deer management. After leaving college i went to Finland to learn and work. From stalking large and often dangerous moose in uncharted spruce forests to felling big trees in -32 temps in northern Finland hundreds of miles from any help if you need it. I loved it and i still carry those memories with me today. I moved back to the Uk in 2004 and started contracting for site clearance firms, its all about felling big trees for me boys. There is just something about being outside with the sun on my back watching the seasons come and go. I think im lucky having a job that i bounce out of bed in the morning to go to. . .
  19. Nice one always nice to meet like minded people, i go up to to Dumfries and Perth way for my shooting. Get yourself to Finland for the Moose and the whitetail and Begium,Germany for the boar. I did my european large game ticket in Finland and it was a top course. As for this guy drowning the squirrel, if he is daft enough to let people know what he is doing or to let people see what he is doing, he deserves the fine. Im still not a fan of squirrel water torture though... There are more efficient ways to kill things.
  20. Stihl 440 with an 18 inch bar for a long time and now the 441 with a 20 inch bar. These 2 saws have done the bulk of my work over the years. Apart from the big felling when the 066 is broke out. Skyhuck said nothing whistles like a 066 and he is right... ITS GOT TO BE 066 THOUGH...Used Huskys in Belgium for a while and never quite got the feel for em.
  21. Your still crap at Iding tree's Mike! Remember when you argued with me about that Wych Elm for ages in Wales? How are ya Happy man?
  22. Something like the rabbit box traps in hedges? That would work...
  23. I am with you on that but its a bit late if you kill a non target species in your Mk 4 or conibear... You've got the option of releasing the animal if for instance you happen to get a hedgehog in there. I have a hazel walking stick that i put through the mesh of the trap and pin the animal to the base of the cage before shooting. I have set both Mk 4, 6 fenns and conibears in the past and they are both efficient tools. You just got to be sure about where your setting them.
