  3. Having been 'undercover' for a while now....going on a foray.....monitoring the fungi sites on here and generally getting a dossier together against the fungal freaks to expose them for the charlatans that they are (you know who i'm talking about) thought i should have my own fungi thread in order to 'be one of them'. Keep the suspicions low....sssh. so heres some mushroom type things. I think some are the following. xlaria hypoxylon pleurotis cornucopiae (3 pics) coprinus lagopus or leiocephalus red one????? and purplely one????
  4. Pholiota of some sort but i no not which one.......will be getting up the tree on Monday for a closer look.

  14. 20m 20cm 0.63 so from this example a 20 mtr length with a diameter of 20cm would give how many tonnes of wood?
  15. its about this wide and this high:001_smile: havent got the measurements but when i have i will post them......cheers
  16. I'm sure it is on here somewhere but cannot find it.... How do you work out how many tonnes of wood are in a trunk?
  17. arent you in cov mate? this is in london
  18. I went along with a view to put a tender in for all the tree works on this site.......they have extensive grounds at the back too. They mentioned that they had a few of the trees 'tested' a whiule ago and i'm wondering if this was one of them. They are looking into it. I'd have though given the proximity to the road and the size of the tree that it would definately need investigating further?
  19. went to look at this cedar today.........having looked through this thread i'm astonished to see that it is the exact same tree at 'highpoint' highgate/hampstead as the one you have posted here Mr Humphries.!! What a small world we live in.... As can be seen from Davids shot it is a big twin stemmer with the fruiting bodies on the l/h side stem as you look at it. This stem has a lean towards a busy road. There are probably 4 or 5 old fruiting bodies also on the stem. It has been cable braced in the past but having looked at the tree today I was told that this snapped a couple of years ago and has never been renewed. Giving that schweinitzi can lead to stem fractures i'm presuming that the advice would be to investigate the extent of the decay by some means...fractometer, picus perhaps.? before drawing up a management spec? What are peoples experience with regards this fungus?
  20. have you managed to listen???? Cant seem to listen to it.....press listen now and nowt:confused1:
  21. I'm cool with that......tony's are a little shabby mind.
  22. is that at fulham palace janey....sure i'v eseen that hol oak.......and there are lots of old fruiters dotted around.
