  1. when me and gareth went to look at them earlier this year, there was sheds all the way along the line right under them thats why theres a concrete base under them, that was part of the deal to get him to move all stuff out the way. climbing and rigging them would have been a nightmare.
  2. course not lucky we was working in same village as gareths yard so 5 mins down the road to tip off
  3. working for gareth again today and tomorow, felling these 21 conifers, got 12 done and dusted today with 2 slightly big loads 1 in my truck and 1 in gareths trailer back tomorow to get the rest. will make a big difference to everyone near by thats for sure, since the neighbour has solar panels on his roof under them!
  4. thanks dunno what to say with the switching hands i just hold it however is comfortable to make the cut in the position needed however it may be.
  5. skinny cedar removal from today, i had gareth groundieing for me he likes my singing along to wiggle wiggle wiggle yer whilst shaking the skinny stem from the top had a lovely drop zone 2 phone wires on the side it had to all go, plus it was all patio right under it before the wires, on the other side fence, busy road, and another phone wire, cant stand BT sticking wires through middle of trees but there we are.
  6. the client has told gareth he will get him back as gareth has advised to keep taking the regrowth off every 2 years or so
  7. also felling a silver birch the other week with gareth, was a tight spot for it but it just fitted. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg3SBxIqQ9g]felling a silver birch - YouTube[/ame]
  8. pollarding some crappy willows for gareth off here today, easy enough work though, few targets had a phone wire accross the drive way otherwise these would have been 1 cut jobbys, also a few shrubs under and a fence apart from that just drop it, done all three before lunch, LADDERS used well, since there were being left at 15ft as straight stem pollards so no spikeing under that level [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp65Luqwwww]willow pollarding - YouTube[/ame]
  9. alot of people dont think about what is under trees etc it looks small on the tree they would just go for it if they could get rid of it. thats main reason if you ask me.
  10. not when the ladder only reaches 1/4 of the way up the tree, also most people would do there own tree work the only thing that stops them not doing it is the fact they cant get rid of the waste,
  11. never in a million years would i buy a landrover to me there the most over rated 4x4 and not worth the extra cash, there are plenty of other 4x4 on the market that cost far less but will go everywhere a land rover will and last the same amount of time.
  12. got my big 7.5m 3 stage ladders i use them daily, either to gain access to the tree or hedge or going over fences, walls etc etc cant see why people have the image issues with trucks 'cant have a trainsit because you look like a *****' who cares it does the job, its same with ladders people dont want the image of useing ladders even though they do a good job and i really dont get it why people think like that.
  13. just say you will do it cheaper than everyone they will listen then
  14. i did some work for a school couple weeks back, i got asked to quote for it because i had worked for a women who was something to do with the school, word of mouth cant beat that. i gave them a price they had to get several quotes mine was cheapest simples

  16. this is for a pollard though.......
  17. no worries least i no im not talking complete rubbish like usual
  18. you retrieve it e a normal cambium saver i have the pulley just because it makes a huge difference with reduceing friction in the system once you try it with a pulley you wont go back.
  19. here we are this is how you do it with a cambium saver you will need a long one if its a big stem though. the 1 thing you need to watch out for is you must make sure the small ring is ontop of the rest of the cambium saver otherwise it wont be retrevable you will see what i mean if you try it your self.
  20. there is a way you can wrap it around a pole and it will choke and its retreiveable from the ground its hard to explain how though i shall go take a pic for you

  22. looking at about £500 a day in norfolk, make sure if you get the job you get the crane company to go out and look at the site so they can see what size crane they will need, so they should be able to reach the furthest tips is all you want. then its there fault if they send the wrong crane etc.
  23. nice little vid trouble with cranes is once you use 1 you always want 1 im dieing to get a job i can use 1 again
  24. ive had bottles of wine, 6packs of beer, the odd fiver, and the odd tenner, but thats as far as it goes for me, cant complain like ian says you make the money on the job
