  1. which would lead to much larger cuts made on the tree, much increasing the chance of further decay and fungus and more chance of more branches or the whole tree failing. cant beat what work was carried out top work, much lessened the end weight and much reduced the sail of the tree,
  2. felled the final conifer yesterday, monday is just cutting the stumps down which both include metal poles grown in them and cleaning up, bang on target with this job. this is a pic of the smaller conifer once id cut my way to nearly the main trunk. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lS0icuGsTw&list=UUzo9LoGjzU8kvWxI4WK_PIA&index=1&feature=plcp]conifer straight fell second tree - YouTube[/ame]
  3. if anything i try to avoid useing platforms but on this occasion i could get access both sides with the platform it was a thin hedge and i did half the tops one side then when i moved to the other side i did the remaining tops anything in no man land we hacked about with the pole hedge cutter, failing that just ram it into the hedge and hope for the best
  4. well we felled 1 of them today all done and dusted was a shame it was a co do stem would have been abit risky trying to fell in a oner, but just trimming off the low branches to actually get at the main stems filled my transit with a big load of chip, then we felled it made a big pile into the 40yrd skip of chip i tipped off and then we filled landy and transit with wood and its practically all cleared apart from a little pile of logs and sweepings off it, bring on the other 1 tomorow then back monday to do the final clearing up etc etc and all done thank god [ame] [/ame]
  5. ooo yes we are very glad to be off the hedging, sure we will be moaning tomorow though when theres a big pile of conifer to be chipped
  6. so the 3rd day into this job, bang on target if anything ahead of scedule but cant move through it quicker because we have a set work permit where we are on site which areas are cordoned off etc etc so we finally finished the hedge and we dismantled the 2 smaller conifers glad to see the back of the hedge bring on the big saw action tomorow with the straight fells the last picture is gareth getting excited because we have finished with the hedge
  7. i have been hating it, only today though because of the wind blowing the conifers about so much it feels like your moving all over the place, but this platform is pretty damn solid really.
  8. so you have nobody to blame but your self for the poor drop zone then
  9. well im going from what you can see in the video, which just looks like a big open space.
  10. now we have one side completely trimmed and that side topped, we now have one half of the hedge completely done sides and tops, so tomorow is going to be easy day just trim half the side and half the tops abit windy for it today though :sneaky2
  11. platform wheely and a couple other from gareth
  12. someone delete this post please i then i can pretend i didnt see it haha i havent checked my emails yet
  13. me and gareth really are sick of them but least we have a platform for this so its easy work just boring really radio ear defenders help alot i dont envy my self either only 5 more days on this site all conifers
  14. had this big job to do been weighing on my mind for awhile now finally good to crack into it, shame my truck is in for repair so not helpful. least i have good old gareth with his trailer ro help out. this hedge is trim the sides and 1 meter off the top. we had to sign in have inductions etc etc so only got 4 1/2 hours actual work done today but we have cracked all one side pretty much, got another 2days on the hedge then onto the bigguns at the back to fell, thats when the big 40yarder skip is coming in to take some of the chip. i no its wrong time of year to trim conny hedges but company just wants it done before xmas so who am i to say. more pics as the job goes on, sure gareth has some of me driving the platform down the road
  15. i did notice but i didnt wanna make you look like to much of a puff infront of your new good friend
  16. 2nd day pottering around halfed a sycamore crown in couple cuts youve got to rate my target prune. deadwooded a xmas tree loads other bits and bobs and managed to get gareth up the pine once id set his line in the top for him i dunno these oldies have it easy
  17. they may have but im very stubborn, that was years ago so even if they sorted it out now i still wouldnt have the time of day for them.
  18. i bought thousands of pounds of kit from them years ago only people i would use, until they got a order wrong and they wouldnt exchange it for the right things and wouldnt contact me back so i sent them a nice email to tell them what i thought and that i would never use them again and tell everyone i no not to use them so i never have and never will.
  19. was half the top snapped out awhile ago
  20. climbing for gareth again, was abit windy but had this ash to take down, a pine to deadwood and a beech to take 2 branches off. some pics of the day anyways back tomorow same place to deadwood a big xmas tree and clean out a cedar with hung up top and half a sycamore crown in 2 cuts
  21. after the pin fell out you mean gareth or the pointless plastic caps on the 4 upright poles fell off or the really useless plastic grips for your hands that roll around and you lose all grip with the trolley, and there is alot of play in join where you attach the to sections together. thats not even mentioning the quality of the wheels on it that everyone seems to want to change, which i dont blame them.
  22. your lucky the wheels didnt fall off it mate
  23. yer that trolley i genuinely dont like one bit
  24. the last lot were felled and chipped today and 1 load of timber away and more loads of chip, i reackon will be 2 good loads of timber for gareth tomorow so i reackon 7/8 loads in total for this job chip and timber
