  4. Hi david it was a old farm hedgerow tree (plenty of metal in bottom few feet) no idea how old it was, the tree felt unstable moving about on its own with no wind and me not moving. All the stem was solid wood bar the actual bit in sitting in was totally hollowed out and the whole tree was full of brown rot Yer matty wasnt my job, went to see it with gareth he wanted a yes or no as to if id climb it, the clients have reduced it many a time in there 27yrs they thought it was its time to come out, no tpo they want it out i got a good load of firewood jobs a goodun
  5. This old knarly tree didnt look much when me and gareth took a look at it. Today gareth wanted to get it done because of the snow and rubbish traffic took me from 7.30 till just after 10am tk cover the 45miles to the job site still managed to strip out the tree ready to fell tomorow. Everything had to be lowered quite a unstable tree didnt feel 100 percent about its strength in that union but no matter we got it done. I would have loved to see it left as a pollard but all coming out.

  16. Its always january for me last year i had several things one of which was 1grand machanic bill for my truck, this years bad luck is 9 things i counted so far first burst a coolent hose on my truck then my my 3120 saw broke again, next was my log splitter, then i cut a branch off and as it hit the deck a tiny bit snapped and flew through a window then on my way home the clutch and flywheel blew on my truck then my rear lights bulb went, then got home after the truck happened are drains were blocked maybe a collapsed drain next day went to work and my 372 saw something is jamming the throttle wide open. Today i was trying to make a order online hsbc fraud team didnt like it and canceled my card sending me a new one again! Only a few more weeks till a new month!! Least i havent been done over and had stuff nicked like alot of guys recently i feel for you all!
  17. Im sorry to hear that i can relate to this with my sports etc along side this job my body is ruined ive thought many a time about giving up, i think im going to end up doing a part time job and keeping my company ticking alongside it. Picking all the decent nice jobs, until such a time comes i can employ people and be a full time boss man driving about quoting and maintaining the gear
  18. Cheers ill give it ago, i take it you mean the shiney metal rod that runs inbetween the engine and ram? How did you adjust it? Cheers
  19. So got a chance yesterday to take a quick look at it but im far from a machanic i no what things do what bit is what but dont now how they should work etc just the very basics. Heres a couple of pics. I checked all the pipes hoses And connections no leaks no oil anywhere leaking looked at the bottom of the ram where the hoses connect no sign of leaks i ran it for 5/10 mins up and down and checked again no signs of a leak so not sure what the next step would be?
  20. It must be a ram seal by the sounds of it havent had a proper look yet planning on a good look over it tomorow tonight just went to look at the hoses there under the machine all in tack no leaks no oil stains anywhere in sight. To check the ram will be a hell of a job getting to that i shall give it ago tomorow if i get time cheers guys
  21. Hi all i was splitting away on my little 8 ton petrol splitter and got to a hard knarly bit it struggled then finally popped through the ring sent both halfs flying, but now the machine wont split the knife will go down and up fine but theres no power in it as soon as it hits anything it stops dead just wondering what should i check, my theory is it must have built up so much pressure in the hoses etc its split a hose? Havent had a chance to look at it yet but what should i check for cheers
