  1. i dont think i'll get my loader tractor in a polytunnel see
  2. Hi All, Happy new year I cant afford a nice shiny steel portal framed shed with concrete walls and floor so I am thinking of buying a 6m x 18m storage tent marquee thing from a company called dancover to store the firewood I produce from thinning my woodland, which I am thinking of making more of an effort to sell next/this year rather than the odd cube here or there. Storage tent, storage shelter, contemporary storage for sale - Dancovershop UK Has anybody got any experience of these tents or this company? Using one of these tents will also mean i have to continue storing logs in stillages i make up from pallets (i was hoping to move to a bulk tipped system to reduce double handling) but my thoughts are that I can probably make the two grand or so this tent costs a lot quicker than the ten grand or so a proper shed will cost! Thanks In advance
  3. Hi I've got a Major 14t vertical splitter on hydraulics & 3pt linkage and I want to put a 4 way knife and a table extension on it. The table extension should be fairly straightforward but I was wondering if anybody had a similar splitter and had put a 4 way knife on it or even if anyone has put a 4 way knife on any standard splitter as a retrofit before? Any advice? Cheers
  4. Hello all I have decided to clear out some under used kit in order to buy some more urgent things (mainly a new dump trailer as one of the wheels keeps falling off the one we have). I've put a winch and a processor in the classifieds but would be keen to know what the value of the kit is in the current market. 2002 OH60 and Fransguard 3.5t winch. both very good condition, if a little aged. I bought the sawbench from another guy on here actually a few years ago. I would welcome any comments.
  5. the guys that do overhead line work use them but i think they are bolted on to the back end rather than on 3pl. you see them every now and again at auctions but they are quite rare on the market really as they dont do a lot of work. I think they are bespoke anyway but wouldnt take much work to get one knocked up, kind of in the same way that some winches are 3pl and some are bolt on.
  6. try jcb insurance steve i remember a couple of years ago someone i know had the same problem and jcb sorted it more reasonably. i assume its still the case.
  7. ive just started to learn german, for work purposes. i am very much like you on the concentration stakes so what ive done is bought a german for dummies 3 CD set and put them in the car and on the ipod. I'm hopeing if i just keep listening to it over and over, something will sink in! i am getting a bit self concious when i'm sat in traffic and repeating phrases like "two beers please" to my car stereo though.
  8. forget the backflip - when he did the forward roll at the end i bet that took some balls. fair play to the guy.
  9. imagine the state on his knees in a few years time
  10. Hi Darren. My old girl uses them for bedding cats in her boarding cattery. they use Puffin Pellets who are up near Moray or somewhere but were cheaper than the previous suppliers she used. hope all is well anyway chris
  11. you wont move many dumpy bags with that. i used to have one, you could pick a bag up after a bit of proctice but tracking with it is a different story. for the grab try digbits or evans and reid evans and reid make all sorts so even if they dont have it ex stock theyll make it for you
  12. just get the book (£12 i think from constructionskills) and read it once or twice then go for the touch screen (green card i think) test. if you have half an idea about safety and have a bit of common sense you'll be fine. i'm senior management in heavy civils and have always got by with a green card. technically i should have done a few more cards but as long as yo uhave the touch screen/green your fine
  13. cheers john, the problem is the saplings are very close together, in some cases only 6" apart hence why i originally thought of the narrower bucket. maybe i'll try a few different sizes and see how it goes.
  14. ok so bucket size aside, ive got the science bit correct then? smallest bucket i've got is 4 foot so i have to get a little machine in to do this. not a big fan of manual labour when its only a hobby so the shovel isnt coming out.
  15. Hello all I am doing a fair bit of thinning at the moment trying to tidy a few areas up for turning over to meadows. I want to create some natural boundaries and also thicken up existing ones by transplanting some of the many saplings that I have in various places through natural regeration. The saplings are mainly birch but there are some oak and ash. they are all around 1" thick but some are larger. What is the best way to transplant these and when is the best time? At the moment i am looking to use a mini digger with 9" bucket to dig some holes then use the same bucket to scoop the rootball of the saplings and carry them over and plonk them in the hole. will this work and will a 9" bucket be big enough? Thanks for your help
  16. that should just be a case of the wrong size return lines. they are pretty simple pieces of kit but most little (cheaper ones especially) diggers havent got the guts to drive the flail and the arm at the same time.
  17. steve thats what a mate of mine reckons. is it anything to worry about? looks a bit embarrasing when you pull into the shop for a pasty and then engulf the local area in a plume of smoke when you start back off thats all!
  18. i have a 6635 and she like a good puff of smoke when you start her after doing road work or mowing. every experienced anything like that with yours? mines only done 4500 hours so i cant see why its doing it
  19. should be able to get them out with a 13ton digger and a tidy driver. otherwise get a 20t with a ripper you'll get them out in no time. doing similar myself at the moment. i'm assuming when you say JCB you do actually mean just a jcb as in a wheeled digger.
  20. bugger the kit, thats the coolest bit of music i've heard in a while
