  1. growi is a manufacturer of firewood equipment mate (sounds daft i know!)
  2. seriously does nobody know of anyone?
  3. clueless

    growi

is there a growi dealer in the UK?
  4. well at least the thought was there! now just horse on and get the thing built!
  5. 13 tonner operated you would be paying about £17 - £20 per hour plus fuel (allow 15litres per hour) then £100 - £150 each way haulage. 20 tonner operated about £24 - £28 per hour plus fuel (allow 20 litres per hour) and about £150 - £200 each way. those fuel consumptions are flat out digging though mate i would be very keen to hear any feedback you have after talking to planners as i am about to do a very similar bit of work on some land i have, for the same reasons and to store the same things
  6. i had to do it when i was fitting a liner last year as we couldnt get the liner up due to a blockage (even though i had it swept by a proper bloke a couple of months before). I used the drain rods with a brush on the end and whilst your bog standard 'keep brushing till its clear and the brush is poking out the top" was effective at that time, i had to make sure i wasnt around when the mrs got in from work and whilst hiding in the boozer i rang a carpet cleaning company and got the living room booked in. no substitute for experience and the right gear. The same as someone getting a chansaw from argos and calling themselves a tree surgeon. that said, it would probably have been a lot less messy if i had an outside rodding point.
  7. why isnt it up to the job?
  8. stevie try evans and reid i use them a fair bit they are in my neck of the woods and have never let me down yet on price or delivery. they'll match or beat most places Evans & Reid Ltd Wales UK Buckets Sprockets Tracks Digger and Tractor Parts
  9. thats an interesting article and very unfortunate if thats the shape of things to come. some interesting comments at the bottom of it. i think theres a few guys on here who supply drax, maybe they can offer first hand views on it?
  10. looks like it could be useful yes. couple of things though.. any more pics of the trailer? have you got tipping sides? is the hitch set up for a mog (i.e. would i have to b*stardise it to fit a normal ag tractor?) whats it like offroad (clearance etc) as i'd be pulling it through some chunky gear. oh yeah how much money do you want for it? nice rig you got there i bet your sorry to see it go? pm me if you like cheers
  11. its for use extracting our thinnings for processing so its only small stuff up to 14" what the processor can take. thing is the crane needs to be a log crane type as i need to be able to swing brash about (hence why i'm looking at crane feeding a chipper) and also need to pick up cobbles and boudlers (what is being exposed during thinning out - lots of stone on the floor which then makes it impossible to mow to keep the weeds down). i have spoken to SWB in detail about this and the 'weld a hiab onto a trailer' route probably wont get me what i want (i.e. speed and versatility)
  12. apologies for posting what looks like the biggest photo in the world. not sure how to change it?
  13. hello all is anybody running (or has run) something like a 4 ton dropside tipper in conjunction with a 3point linkage crane? i'm having difficulty getting my 10ton double dropside trailer round our woods and am thinking of downsizing although the reason i was holding on to the 10ton trailer was to put a crane on it. i need something that tips and thats compact enough to get round but has enough reach to use the crane on its own (with a chipper). hope that makes sense! was thinking of pairing something like with cheers
  14. fair point there. if you need absolute scaleability then cad is the only way to go. i'm in construction so we use it along with some other land surveying programs but its all £££ and for quick sketches that are a bit more developed than a back of a fag packet, open office suits.
  15. thats good to hear mate. actually it just made me think about another one i used to do - blow a hairdryer into the vents to get it going! the mrs wasnt a big fan! ha ha big fan! no pun intended! been a long week sorry.
  16. if you dont need to have 'proper' CAD features a good program is openoffice draw. i use it for all my site layouts, sketches, tender drawings, the lot. and its free. openoffice.org
  17. mate i have a rotating cowl i'm not using its like new. open to offers if you want. cost £150, put it on, then realised the problem was that the bleedin chimney sweep didnt do a thorough job. swept the chimney properly, then didnt need it any more. its just sat in the shed now...
  18. i lost a digit and a half on one of them ones when i was a boy they need 100% concentration thats for sure dont go thinking about what your going to have for tea whilst your cutting. even something a subtle as lowering the hood/top guard over the blade so theres no gap would have prevented mine. needless to say i'm a big fan of guards these days! my advice, start with a simple circular saw and built in splitter like a hakki pilke oh 60 or the palax combi. dont go straight in at the bottom of the range like a hakki pilke eagle theres no point unless your not bothered about splitting what you cut as the splitter quite labour intensive. of course it all depends on what size timber you are looking to process. i've got an oh60 as most of my timber is around 10" so i didnt see the point buying something that would do 14" at this stage.
  19. where can i find one
  20. i quite fancy that forwarder at the price its ideal for what i'm doing but looks like it may start costing a bit in maintenance shortly
  21. happy new year guys where can i find out about xmas trees? suppliers and growing them etc i want to plant a few for a bit of pocket money over the next few years. cheers
  22. i tried emailing rojek some time ago but got no response. i could only see axminster powertools as a uk dealer and even then, this machine isnt available it seems. do you have any contact details of someone who deals with this piece of kit? cheers
  23. guys i'm on a job in colnbrook and am looking for a half decent b&b or hotel or 'somewhere' for a couple of weeks starting tomorrow. anyone know of anywhere? all places like travelodge are silly money cos of the heathrow connection and most other b&b places i have looked at are taking the michael also due to heathrow. any suggestions greatly appreciated cheers
  24. surely someone must have some experience of producing firewood on contract?
  25. not sure to be honest i hadnt considered it. when i had one go before on an old fiat tractor it would give the characteristic over revving then dying completely (obviously becauuse it was letting air in). with this though the engine doesnt die but it can struggle (like say you need to change down a gear in the car kind of thing). there is no over revving. what sort of symptoms did you get with yours?
