  1. hello Robert to be honest, the setup you have in your pic is what i am aiming for but i am looking at trimming down over the next few months so i am getting rid of kit. the micro digger is too small for grapple work really so i was looking for a 3 tonner but theyre still holding theyre value and i couldnt justify the expenditure to get something half decent. out of interest how much quicker would you say feeding that chipper with the digger is rather than by hand?
  2. she'd stick out a fair bit though! thats a good idea but have you seen the reach on them? i was toying with the idea of sitting it on a little trailer chassis and using it as a forwarder around my place but the reach doesnt really justify it. you would struggle to pick up more than a grab full of brash though i dont think you would get any logs moved with it because of the stability. actually i just rememeber i did a job in the village a few years ago and took the digger there in a grain bucket on the telehandler. had some looks that morning fair play.
  3. pics? will maybe get a few up tomorrow but i'm talking just your generic heap of <4" ash & hawthorn which has developed after a little bit of thinning over winter. theres about half a dozen fairly dense piles about 5m x 5m x 3m it needs shifted so i can put a hardstanding down so i dont get so bleedin muddy this winter. i was toying with the idea of handballing it all into the 6" towalong but its not really roadside thats the problem. plus i'm lazy this month.
  4. as the title says; anyone in south wales running a tractor mounted crane fed chipper? i have a couple of days work clearing some piles of brash near bridgend that i would like you to give me a price for doing. or if you know of anyone who has one?? cheers
  5. hi mate did you get my pm about the van?

  6. bloody good bacon sandwiches there this morning
  7. i was thinking of trying water this week actually for what its worth. regarding a weight block, thats not possible as theres usually an implement or a trailer on the back. what happens with a trailer for example is that the would be a fair bit of weight coming through the drawbar at times which tends to push the back end of the tractor about (when going down a muddy track etc) because the lugs cant grip in and hold the steady route.
  8. never thought i'd hear of a jinma doing 6000 hours! fair play youve got your moneys worth then. any problems during those hours? back to the tyres, i was concerned at the quality especially with the woodland work. i think if we were just on grass i would have no problem buying the cheap ones... the goodyears are probably about 30% at the moment but with a loader on the front there no grip on the back especially with it being wet under foot and boggy also.
  9. i'm probably answering my own question here but does anyone have any experience of chinese tractor tyres? we have a NH6635 on 16.9x38's which is used mainly off road (pasture and woodland) but does some loader work on the yard but either way, she only does about 300 - 400 hours a year max. anyway the goodyears on the back need replacing (circa £800 each) but i have seen chinese import tyres i can get a pair for £700 but am not sure how they will perform? although for the hours we do they would probably be fine. any comments? cheers
  10. fair length on that drawbar! i was thinking that a 3pt link frame could be made to mount the chipper on and then the frame has a hitch on the back, i.e. so no stress is on the actual chipper. i dont want to do anything that involves lengthening drawbars as the trailers would need to be used normally also. cheers
  11. Hello guys has anyone got any pictures or info on things that they have welded up to enable having a 3pt linkage chipper and tow a trailer? i am looking at either knocking a frame up or getting hold of a hydraulic hitch like off of a JCB loadall and mounting this on the front weight frame (or at least making a frame for it and mounting on the bolt holes on the side of the chassis) i dont need anything 'road legal' just enough to whip around our woods without having to drop the chipper off everytime i want to move the trailer to tip the chip. i've not got a chipper yet but can see this as the main stumbling block to getting one. cheers
  12. not sure how you could fabricate one and reliably calibrate it? i'd be keen to know if anyone knows of an online geotechnical equipment supplier though as i am looking for a shear vane myself cheers
  13. i'm in construction, away 5 days a week and get about £30 a day which is supposed to cover all meals, acommodation and also something for the inconvenience factor. it doesnt, especially when working down south.
  14. yeah i know theres plenty around and its not a new concept i just meant the fact that the guy in the video has taken a grab and bodged together a few bits of box section and a cutting edge to get to where he wants it to
  15. the title doesnt really sell it much i know but i was just looking on youtube for ideas and found this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v13ILjzGC6Q]YouTube - Volvo ECR 58 i skogen 2[/ame] obviously its not brilliant but looks like a good little tool which i think the guy has knocked up himself. i was thinking could you use a big chipper blade (easily replaceable) on it instead of the steel he is using?
  16. i dont understand how people go to the effort of putting stuff like that on youtube without any outcome??? but yeah it probably fell on top of her
  17. i might mate. pm me some details if your not to busy lambing? :-)
  18. stump grinder attachment for a mini digger maybe? i think you can hire them if you dont want to buy. Stump Grinder i know naff all about stump grinding though. lots about diggers mind.
  19. suppose i should say that i have all my gear and vehicles with them and the old man has the farm and all his gear with them too so theyre not all that bad! we're just old school thats all and deal with old school representatives. stick to who you feel safest/most confident with.
  20. this will probably sound a bit daft but i've seen the service from the nfu these days isnt like it used to be when it was just 'farmers' or other rural types. its all about targets these days isnt it so they get these people (generally youngsters) in who dont really give a monkeys about people and rural issues and then things like this happen. its unfortunate what youve experienced there.
  21. i like the bit in the second video where you went back for another play at the end but then changed your mind!
