  1. Microbes and climate change now THAT is interesting:thumbup1: One thing i have done a bit of reading on since i started my FdSc is carbon sequestration in trees... I'm sure fungus has a role somewhere:thumbup:

  4. Nice little link that... Just been in the microscope reading about the little microbes! Quick question, do tubers aka Truffles grow in this country and if not why not? Not that this has anything to do with pollarding which i should probably get back to in this thread haha

  12. Haha wasn't meant to be, if your busy i can add in the few months that weren't done? and you can carry on when you get a spare minute!
  13. i would say, but i'd probably get told off for saying it on an open forum, so my next answer would be cost.... or maybe the majority of clients having a 0% knowledge base meaning they're not bothered about the tree just the H&S aspects of the tree being dangerous when its not or blocking the sunlight when it doesn't or them just being generally ignorant.... rant over:thumbup:
  14. what happened to the tree of the month that used to pop up, well, every month!! I enjoyed those posts and they seem to have disappeared?
  15. yep i've applied for two of them (think i'm a bit old for the apprentice one haha), did 3 months works for them this time last year through an agency and twas good work
  16. Only just started reading this thread and its definately an interesting one, got a few possible suspects that this could be applied too, its just whether i can persuade the boss and the clients!!
  17. To be honest Monkey I couldn't quite tell:blushing: I took this pic whilst on a camping trip to the Forest of Bowland area, the Beech was situated in a car park on the edge of Gisburn Forest and all the other trees along the same row (beech & chestnut) had never been touched? The tree wasn't exactly in the way of anything so why its ever had work done to it is beyond me but on the other hand, why would it grow like this?
  18. some people can be ignorant and just down right unhelpful.... Went to work this morning feeling a little unwell but needed the money so went anyway. By the time 11 o'clock came i was up a mahoosive conifer and feeling rather unwell and feverish (man flu i thought, so i carried on). In the end i had to get home, told the customer i'd be back in the morning and started to drive home. On my way home i started to get pins and needles ALL over my body but it was affecting my hands which had clasped shut and my vision which was blurry, i was also breathing too rapidly and nearly crashed the car. I pulled over to be sick at the side of the road but no joy, pins and needles where getting worse, i could hardly speak and only just managed to dial 999 on the phone as i was genuinely worried something was wrong... As i was trying to speak to the operator who was finding it very difficult to understand me, i couldn't remember where i was so crawled to the front of my car and tried to wave to someone to stop. AT LEAST 9-10 cars drove past and looked at me and NOT ONE stopped!! eventually a jogger came past and spoke to the emergency services about my location. Well after spending, 4 hours in hospital this afternoon strapped to a heart monitor and blood pressure device turns out i have a sickness bug, very low blood pressure and apparently am doing to much (yes i am a big girl) but the point is... NO ONE STOPPED!
