  1. i took down quite a large cherry with handsaws whilst i ran my landscaping business... realised through common sense there must be a better way, did the research, got me tickets, now at uni... rang round the yellow pages to get experience when i first started and the rest is history
  2. haha like that answer..! depends how you "prune"? Does it need thinning? reducing? lifting? your plum tree can be pruned but it needs to be done properly (imo) and have you got any images of it? just out of curiosity that is..?

  7. i don't blame the guy on the pole for the accident more the guy on the floor behind the camera shouting "just cut it, just cut it"... think the guy panicked and... just cut it!!
  8. the trouble is, we still rely on oil too much and the conspiracy theorists out there who believe that we have probably already invented and utilised all the green energy we need, is still not enough to stop the greedy oil tycoons from running everything!!

  12. understood completely:thumbup: i'm like a little excited kid at christmas at the moment with all this learning and sometimes my enthusiasm gets a little bit carried away and i'm easily distracted (hence being on here and not writing my pruning booklet assignment) back to the thread... what is fomes nigricans? is it related and can fomes fomentarius also be confused with phellinus agnarius??
  13. not ever having used a thermo or knowing what it does or even actually being near one:blushing:... what does it do and what results and information can be used/gained from using it? sorry for the simple newb question, but all this "proper" (haha) tree work is something that i hope to be doing in the future... not that what i'm doing is not proper.. i'll stop digging now, that holes getting pretty big:001_tt2:
  14. ps, nice of you to link the fomes word back to the fungi glossary, just had a good read of the fomes fometarius section:thumbsup:
  15. as the thread title says.. Its for a guy i've done some subbying for but am way way to busy at the mo, so he's looking for an extra helping hand.. there may be more work in it in the future for the right person but thats not upto me, i just know i had a fair bit of constant work from him you need to be able to know what your doing and it would be beneficial to have your own kit. pm me for his details and yours and i can put you in touch with him cheers robin:thumbsup:
