  7. mmm did i post my hypoxylon and beercan pics in this thread or somewhere else? lemme search them...
  8. i bought mine a few weeks ago from treeworker and too thought that i would be charged VAT from the online bit. I rung them up and when ordering over the phone was not charged vat. With delivery i paid 188.50:thumbup:
  9. i've seen some fungus on a small birch across the road from me about 4 houses up. The fung in question is purple and growing all over the trunk and looks like lots of mini brackets. The tree is only about 8 inches across and was literally "topped" about 3-4 years ago at 5-6' there has been little growth since but it is still alive. It is only a small front garden and there is a small hedge in front of it, i felt a bit daft going on knocking on the door asking if i could take a piccy of it haha and didn't want to take a quick sly one as the blinds where open:blushing: what do you reckon it could be? it could be purple toothed polypore but i may be well wide off the mark as i haven't inspected it closely:thumbdown:
  10. i like the last pic on another note got to pollard some pops next week, will try to get pics as and when
  11. I don't like reducing birch myself either, don't think they take it very well (seen some really bad ones) In this case the customer wanted it out but the housing association wouldn't pay for it so our boss said "top it":sneaky2: paperwork, red tape and beaurocrats (and and bosses who really shouldn't be in tree work) are the bain of my existance sometimes:001_tt2: but in the cold light of day, she was happy with the result and i didn't top it haha!!
  12. yeh forgot to do the last "pruning" cut 2" from the floor straight across:001_tt2:
  13. she wanted it below her bedroom window so there would be no light blockage!? all we ever seem to do is tend to residents trees that "are in the way"! just wish when building these places and planning tree locations, architects/builders/scheme mangers etc etc would actually think about the future life of the tree but hey ho, pays the wages i spose
  14. we where there (at the job) all morning, we took a storm damaged pussy willow out of the back garden, we where done by 11 got made 3 brews, toast and a fiver tip each. Not much but more than we normally get though:thumbup: What really made us laugh though was our boss (who knows more than us) put on the job sheet - remove fallen poplar and top fruit tree at front!!
  15. ps i do really know that its a "birch" and not a "burch" haha!!
