    The Amazon

More than 20% of the world's oxygen is produced in Brazil's Amazon rainforest, which is why it's often described at the lungs of the planet. The Rainforest is one of the world's natural marvels, with more than half of the estimated 10 million species of plants, animals and insects on earth, living in its tropical forest. However, between May 2000 and August 2005, Brazil lost more than 132,000 square kilometers of forest—an area larger than Greece — and since 1970, over 600,000 square kilometres of Amazon rainforest have been destroyed. With de-forestation running at such a rapid rate, experts estimate that the last remaining rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years.
  12. what i should of said (instead of what i did in jest:blush:) was that the tree if possible, which is probable from the photo, should be left to die with dignity and to feed new life:thumbup: cue the lion king and the circle of life:biggrin: i shall think about what i type next time:lol:
  13. i have the exact same bag and apart from a few scrapes and little tears, both straps are still intact and the bag has lasted 3 years
  14. so the trees pretty much had it then:biggrin:
  15. yep, as i said, roll on summer, we had a glorius 3-4 weeks in april and most of may has been wet with high winds:thumbdown: so, i shall repeat, roll on summer:lol:

  17. lovely grain on it
  18. use it on my sidestrop with a 10mm cord i forget the name of, can get quite tight in the wet but all in all a nice easy hitch to tie and compact when the legs are short
  19. haha no worries, been out on the hunt today and talking pics myself, i think i kinda get it now (was the rough bark that was puzzling) but after today things are clearer, will post some pics up later to give my thoughts on the matter too:thumbup:
  20. so.... increment strips?
  21. i'd take the whole thing down as asked and replant a small specimen keeping most/all the logs as a habitat pile rather than a monolith as it seems to be a small garden overlooked by many
  22. nice semi lunge:thumbup:
  23. like the stumpgrinder compartment, very tidy
  24. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/tree-health-care/29270-tree-identification-database.html still building the database but collecting pics in the background, as to avoid copyrights etc i hope to take most of the pics myself or from help of others with permissions and recognition tis going to be a big job and will be a while before its ready but once it is it WILL be the definitive online resource/phone app for tree identification anyway, don't want to derail your thread too much so carry on the tree id etc in this thread so, back to hispidus:biggrin:
  25. nice van, but where does all the chip go:lol:
