  1. i am interested, will see if i can get the day off work tomorrow
  2. read it twice and a half so far:thumbup: I keep boring everybody at work with VTA symptoms:lol: When is my six weeks up i can't remember? also, when at the show on saturday i spoke with Jo from treesource, really nice she was and mentioned you, said she'd done the stickers for you as i said i was in the book scheme! I also noticed a few other stupsi books that i'll be purchasing in the near future:thumbup:
  3. just looked... the one on the 5th is in wrexham the one on the 6th is in carmarthen
  4. The manchester area would be an ideal place for an ARB show, we have some awesome parks and woodlands up here but they tend to go unnoticed in regards to the northern branch and ken linford on the AA website it says Tim Beckley is the chairman not ken Linford. I've come across Ken before but not for a long time
  5. it ripped... the first 8 seconds of the vid show don't show the gob very well but a normal gob would not rip the way that one did
  6. how about literally chopping it in half:blush: and keeping all the low stuff untouched a bit aggressive and not great practice but the tree remains, it won't hit the house if it falls, and there is enough foliage left for photosynthesis even though it would be a harsh procedure just a thought anyway....
  7. :congrats: well said, by the time i've done my FdSc i'll have 6 years climbing behind me, i also hope to do another 4-5 more whilst learning to be a consultant that way i'll actually know how the job is done when sorting work and contracts and trees for other people:thumbup:
  8. If only i had the money:001_rolleyes: these will have to wait till i've finished my degree in two years when fingers crossed i'll get pro status in the AA:thumbup:
  9. yeh thanks for those rung axel when i got there and he gave me the tickets, had a chat with him about his fuels in the afternoon too:thumbup:
  10. i ask as it is a bug bear of mine that some (not all) theorists do all there education and walk into TO/consultant positions without any practical knowledge what-so-ever!
  11. after having a discussion on locations of shows/events in the world of arb and us northerners "moaning", i have plotted all AA training events and conferences for this year past and present, all location of arb shows past and present and the AA branches (representation of each area) apart from one course on nature and bats in preston and the BS3998:2010 meets that also went on in preston there is NOTHING in the north west and i am forced to drive hundreds of miles to get involved I don't mind the drive but wouldn't it be fair to have some things up 'ere:sneaky2:
  12. do you actually do any physical arb work? or is it all theory? just a question so i can understand more
  13. the long and short of it.... leave well alone to get on with it naturally:thumbup:
  14. the top one is definately Tilia cordata due to the defined heart shaped base and abrupt point, you will be able to tell by tufts of hair in the vein axils the second one is not brilliantissium but my best guess would be Acer Opalus, the italian maple, as you can see from the pics you have posted the lobes are rounded but have the same form as the septemlobum group of maples, which also makes me think it could be some sort of Acer rubrum cv.
  15. i'll draw a map in a bit to prove my point don't mind the drive been to capel and the AA this year, missed out on arb fair north due to work, but i intend to try to get down to justins i just think it shouldn't be a north/south devide which it seems to be but the saying goes you can't please everybody:lol:
  16. i made the trip down but like steve said its too much cost for us northerners to go camping on every show as much as i would like to how about holding the show alternately in different locations, one year in the south, the next in the north and so on and so forth?
  17. it's a bit mad really, when i see most of the relatives now they've usually saved me a cutting thats tree related:biggrin: Couldn't think why though...!
  18. I received a cutting from my nan, about an hour go I read the "I"
  19. :scared1: Scariest tree in the world: Suffolk 70ft beech with wonky eyes | Mail Online
  20. taking off crossing branches is not ALWAYS necessary unless IMO, generally they are taken off as to not cause damage, but sometimes they form important bridges
  21. Woodfest Wales had excellent food (just a side note)
