  1. I must be getting a different picture to you, i think its sick!!
  2. I like a cup of tea first thing, followed by grinding some coffee and firing up the Gaggia (espresso machine). Happy days.
  3. Cool avatar Klaymeb!
  4. I do take sugar, but dont you find that unsweetened grapefruit juice is a bit sour?
  5. If you want pointless mate, check out my thread "poll poll" a response to the almost incessant ammount of new members who want to be told which saw to buy:bored: and the constant squabbling over whether someone is a pikey or not. Derailment over.
  6. Never thought about it from that point of view!! May well be true:ohmy: CTS- good point.
  7. I dont really have the self confidence to say- I am not sure that i am particularly quick, as I only started climbing a few years back, but i reckon that i can judge quite well what a tree 'needs' as it were. I used to employ guys to climb before i learnt, and I have had one guy who hardly needed explaining to at all, and another who just seemed to be confused. Both were, I think, fast up and in the tree, but only one I would have said was a good arborist. When he left the tree it looked as if it had hardly been touched, albeit smaller. To me this says good arborist- tidy, safe and no butchery. The fact that he is a fast climber is a bonus. So i voted no.
  8. Go down the scrap yard and get the roll bar off a disco, it will bolt straight on your truck, all the fittings are already there- brackets on the chassis andd lugs on the rear axle.
  9. Nonsense. 110 hi-cap is rated to that, hence the name "high Capacity Pick-up" as is the 130. Land rover special vehicles have made many tippers, and were even doing it to series 3 land rovers. My landrover is a 1994 and drives better than ant transit of similar age, and your comment about the 1950's, IN MY OPINION just makes me think that you have very little or no experience of the vehicle. I can carry 3 cube of chip in mine, which may not be as much as a transh-it, but it'll carry it anywhere. You are welcome to come over and try it any time. Un-looked after vehicles i agree with your comments entirely, but those of us who care for and look after our vehicles dont have that problem. The whole point of landrovers is their adaptability, as has been recorded ad-infinitum for years.:001_smile:
  10. Very nice job mate. really pro looking. Well done that man!!
  11. Here it is then. You should both explore this amazing place a bit i reckon.
  12. Dave, Ross, please take note. Some if not all of us are getting very bored of it, and you are both making a bit of a scene over something that has nothing to do with anyone else.
  13. Very true, and further to that, heat exhaustion can cause you to make the kind of errors of judgement that can lead to the fatal errors; losing concentration, getting stressed out over things that normally wouldnt necessarily bother you, then rushing etc etc. Getting angry and pissed of with groundies and trying to do everything oneself, leading to dangerous mistakes. All these can be down to overheating, and the end results are usually bad. We should all re-acquaint ourselves with the early signs of heat exhaustion, and watch our fellow workers to make sure that we are all drinking enough, taking time in the shade in the hottest part of the day, and possibly adjusting our manner of work to allow for unusal temperatures, especially at the start of summer when we are first getting used to it. I drink litres of water, which if i am organised has been in the freezer, and a couple of ottles of isotonic. A great way to cool down is wetting the back of wrists, and the back of your neck.
  14. Never a truer word said mate. Mine too.
  15. Virtually none, just around the farm. About 12 years ago i did a summers work in north cornwall where i did a lot of fencing, and am good friends with some fencing contractors up that way too, Truscotts, Gt fencing etc. Personally i hate it with a vengeance!! All i have done for last ten years is tree stuff and stone stuff.
  16. I missed that truck, due to its sombre paintjob........ Only joking of course, i think they saw it from the Mir space station!!LOL
  17. Very interesting. We never put fencing strainers in more than about 3'6", and when that stock fence is properly tight there is someting like nearly 100 ton strain laterally!!! It has always amazed me that!
  18. I take it you dont mean mixed with your hardwood logs too:scared1:
  19. Mike is a joy to be around, made us all laugh loads, and blew us away with his depth of knowledge on almost everything. What an amazing guy. Cheers mike:001_smile:
  20. Probably right. Western power delivered some poles of 56' once that were too short for the job for which they were intended, and when chatting to them, they said 99.9% of any electric poles went no deeper than 6' in the ground.
