  1. Jarrah, only is parts of WA. Very hard and really heavy. https://www.australianwoodwork.com.au/blogs/news/jarrah-eucalyptus-marginata
  2. So you've got a like button here these days, things have changed a bit.
  3. Ha. Fancy finding you here, I haven't logged in for ages except yesterday. Nice little chipper, should work well in your area. Hope it doesn't hit you in the head. Haven't been on AS for a fair while.
  4. I just got an email as well. The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 117.169.1.170 Pretty close to what happened on another forum a couple of weeks ago, they seem to have gone from there now. "The same thing is happening to me from IP 117.169.1.196" "Yep, they tried to get me too. IP - 117.169.1.217. Bastards!" All China Mobile Communications Corporation, Beijing.
  5. You should have no problem getting a 1/4 sprocket, I had one with that size. Not a bad saw for your type of thing.
  6. That's an old video, made in North Sydney if I remember correctly. He went the same way as the tree a few months later, thanks to some drug habit. No loss to the world as far as I'm concerned.
  7. I'd say you'd be right there, but I'd like to meet someone that broke one. I bought the big Tirfor after I got rid of mine, no comparison really. I still have it. Monkey-D, thanks. [the monkey winch thread] Did you use a snatch block with yours? I did. Fun times, that's why I don't have any pictures. Too busy working. I just found this. RAEME Know-how ~ TofC ~ Applied Engineering Solutions in Operations and in the Field 12 ton straight pull, I wonder what we pulled with the extension and snatch block.
  8. Mine is long gone. I'm sorry now, most people here wouldn't even know what one was these days. A four foot pipe extention gave it a bit extra power, unbreakable IMO and we did some big stuff with it. I have a picture I stole from here, but I can't find it now. It was one Monkey-D posted once.
  9. Thanks. I don't think I like that electric drive idea. There's one for sale close to me but I found the specs and it's too wide,[810mm] unless they have a narrow wheel option.stump grinders The other 3 are 74cm/29" and I need that. I had a Dosko that I could change wheels on to get through a doorway but sold it a few years ago, a bit old. Now I need one that can go through a doorway and up stairs, you'd think with all the space here they wouldn't build fence to fence.
  10. Anyone tried the Laski F450? The way things are going here I need a narrow access self propelled grinder. These are a lot cheaper than the others available. 25hp Kohler, same as on my Vermeer, but price has me a bit worried not much more than the Rayco 13hp. I'd be grateful for any info.
  11. 30 quid, you're laughing. That's a good saw. I posted a pic of my 380 here once, just got a few parts for it from the US, [muffler mainly] it's up and running no problems. It's done a lot of hard work, don't use it much now just like to run it now and then. What did you want to know exactly?
  12. Forth down, left is a Bunya pine. Araucaria bidwillii. Eight down is a Euphorbia tirucalli, I'm pretty sure.
  13. I was agreeing with Rowan. I get it every day. "They drop leaves all the time" Drives me mad. It's a euc, that's what they do. At the moment here it's Jackaranda's dropping flowers all over the place, so the tree has to go.
  14. Yes, leave it alone. What are you, just lazy.
  15. Depends on what size chipper you're talking about. Ply is the best. Morbark & and one local have a bagging attachment for small chippers. There was a guy running around here for a few years with air conditioning duct on a 12" Bandit, must have worked.
  16. Heavy? Great saw. I still fire mine up every few months, 2 or 3 pulls no problem. Haven't used it much in the last few years because the muffler was shot, but I got one on ebay from the US a few weeks ago.
  17. I've had one for a while. I bought it to do palms, they eat Stihls. It's no 200 and a bit bulky at first but it hasn't let me down yet and it's done a bit of work. Just Carlton 050 chain, 15" bar, gets most palms down ok. For the price, I can't complain.
  18. The 70's. This one has the lyrics and some nice trees. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK8gwcKXTiM]YouTube - Nick The Chopper[/ame]
  19. Tommer9, check this thread:http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/8457-victoria-bushfire-felling.html Then have a look here: YouTube - acetreemaster's Channel Ace knows his stuff.
  20. I don't think this has been posted here before. Some wartime tree fellers in Scotland. They got paid well. It's a bit long. Blinkx Video: Tree Fellers
  21. Guess I was a bit slow getting here. Glad you liked it.
  22. Whinging Aussie me? Never, unless it's not sunny and over 22C. My grandfather came from Gloucestershire, guess he liked rain. I just checked a few things. Average yearly rainfall: Gloucestershire, 1231mm, 48.66ins Sydney, NSW, 1217mm, 48ins Kent, 701mm, 27.6ins Hope you're job goes ok Theocus.
  23. Weather, I know how you feel, I've got 2 gums and a white cedar to take down overhanging a school laneway. Been waiting for the holidays, planned on this week after Easter, it just started pelting down.
