  1. Was just watching a Logging DVD and it started talking about a machine called a Super Snorkel, it is litteraly mad! Its a crazy bit of kit and looks soo hard to operate! Think of it like a drag line crane with a grapple on it. 2. wow first time i've ever been able to go on hahaa
  3. haha yeah its cheap, most of our wood we get for free though and its not the highest quality
  4. most of our customers take it like that, granddads been selling firewood like this for probably 30 years + and still using the same saw bench haha, never had any complaints
  5. £50 a load like this, £60 for all ash
  6. Congrats Stevie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Raptor is much much better (Old Pic)
  8. haha thanks, its for me to though i hate using his saw with no dogs and the bar is too heavy for its size hahaha, even made him up my first chain, with the rivet spinner and chain breaker he gave me
  9. shinny new socket set loads of thermal socks! Got my granddad a set of large felling dogs for his ms440 seen as tho there is only a little bit of a dog on his saw and a BRAND NEW Oregon bar, now for the first time ever he doesnt have to file down and drill oiler holes in heavy old dolmar bars to make them fit fit!

    Yay!!!

yup down here tooo, started snowing bout 4ish
  11. hey tommer, asked my granddad about the austin, he didnt know what model it actually is, and its not the orginal engine either which was a petrol, its now got a 6 litre ishhhh diesel in it
  12. yeah get one! they are sweeet! use my sachs dolmar 153 with a 36" bar and ripping chain works a treat!
  13. nope no pic btw it isnt the one side mounted on our fordson if anyone was wondering, i would pay someone if they could pull that off without and angle grinder it was just a smaller dark green one, dunno home to describe one of these lol
  14. we had one stolen the other day
  15. yeah we cover ours, i know people say that the wood "sweats" when its covered but we use old tarp that is ripped and no good for much else, this keeps the worst off but still allows the wind to blow through and under it, we also use sheets of tin on some of the log piles, this gets the rain to run off (and would keep the snow off if we got any) and still allows the wind to get at the wood.
  16. thats the old timers for you
  17. ooo sweeet! Yeah you really cant beat a bit of oak! A farmer by us is doing a barn conversion, the oak was felled off his land aboiut 2 years ago and we are going to start milling it over christmas (hopefully) Yeah i am really pleased with it! Glad it is making some money to Ahh thats a bum keep on at them you'll have one some day

    Muddy yard

Just thought i would show you this, this was put down in the summer, our yard is normally under a foot or so of mud, half of it still is but it is better
  19. Found these pics on the computer, totally forgot we did this milling, done back in october, some really nice oak and we got the big saw out
  20. yeah that would have been good if we did that, but the customer was keeping all the cord wood, plus it wasnt the straightest anyway and would have been a pain to mill stuff that size and shape
  21. ooo thats pretty sweet! Our neighbors let us borrow kit to They are concreting contractors and have loads of dumpers, loaders, mini diggers and bigger excavators and 2 big tractors that we have borrowed in the past, its good to have nice neighbors
  22. at least your in a tidy tractor, is it yours? we have to work in the conditions with vintage kit
  23. Ah right niceee! I wouldnt have a clue what austin it is, i'll ask my granddad tomorow and let you know We have been thinking about in the not too distant future getting a bedford tm or similar and mounting the whole crane and winch unit on that, soo many times have been been somewhere and this would be a handy unit to have, as you can see this one doesnt travel much out of our yard lol Ooo thats a nicee deere! Having fun in the mud? When we were milling this we used the crane to move the logs down through our muddy yard to the mill, then loaded them onto the mill with the fordson major
  24. That mills working great! We also have extensions for it so it can cut up to 20ft, and is towable It isnt actually a matador, its an austin with a different engine in it, runs well thoo and it was larch
  25. A great job we have been doing recently! Had to remove a big Leylandii hedge, and then put up a panel board fence in its place Stems were straight felled or winched over, we had a MF35 with Fransgaurd winch in the garden, which winched the trees up to a Green Mech Chipper, chips blown into a agricultural trailer. You may think it made a hell of a mess of the garden, yeah it made a bit of a mess but the customers were happy After all this was cleaned up, we decided to mill the 4x4 posts and some of the boards, seen as though we had some large logs kicking about in the yard which would only have gone to firewood or just left to rott lol, they were then tanalised, still waiting for some of the boards so fence is not complete yet lol but you can see the on going process The last few pics are the milling, showing the crane moving some large logs down to the mill
