  1. I think Chris is bang on, I'm relatively new to this, only just starting to do more of my own work than subby climbing and some weeks/ months it goes back the other way! However I charge 250-300 for a morning and aim for £500 orbit more for a day with myself climbing a good Groundy and a labourer with 9" chipper landy tipper and tipper trailer if need be.And I think I'm cheap! If I can't grow pricing like that I'll be getting out of thousand using what I did at uni!

    arb vehicle?

So for tree work we're alright, which is lucky as I just bought a landy and a ifor Williams tipper as it waste cheapest way I saw of moving more weight! Is it still the case that you only need a taco more than 30 miles from base?
  3. Hitch can be moved up about 40 mm another set of holes but it's not a proper slide one, the landy already has helper springs as its a 3.5t one. I thought moving the hitch would just squish the landy down more, but if that's the solution so be it, I always assumed those adjustable hitches were to make the hitch meet the drawbar rather than the other way round!
  4. What are you up to tomorrow? call me on 07505134004
  5. Most drums I have dealt with have a small hole or slot on the back, usually at the bottom with a star wheel inside use this to back the shies right off then batter the drum and it should come off
  6. Defender does 27mpg mixed unladen, not bad!
  7. Load was level, it looked so bad we loaded it towards the back more before we left ! --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?rebh51
  8. First day towing my new (old) tt105, is it normal for the nose to sit so low?
  9. What do they teach on the wind blown course? I've been dealing with them one way or another since I was about 16-17 with no training of any kind I the early days and feel they're just something you learn to handle with common sense and experience as no two are the same how can class room stuff help?
  10. The trailer imlookingat isnt a dodgy one, so going ahead with it, but confirming if it had ever been nicked or not was ridiculously hard, the police were absolutely useless and wouldn't tell me anything
  11. I've had spates of quotes like that just happens occasionally, hopefully you'll get some more calls soon. But remember we do this to make money not to save trees 99% of what we do is detrimental to the tree in some way.
  12. £4000 ish doesn't seem bad for a new one, but they're so good if I can find a used one for a good price which throne I should've getting is for sure (sub 2 grand) I would sooner go for that as they don't really seem to wear out in my experience, and I've know a few 105s and 126s for quite a few years that've never had a spanner put to them and they get used and abused daily. So we'll see. I certainly won't be paying upwards of £3000 for a new one, dunno what half these people selling em on eBay are thinking with their pricing!
  13. Went back and got the serial number, will be checking it out tomorrow and purchasing shortly afterwards if it all goes to plan :-)
  14. Well they appear to be travellers who own a farm, I wouldn't have bothered checking but now the seed of doubt has been planted along with all the stories of repossessions and stuff
  15. I lie what you've done with that tt126 there little Steven, hope to do that with mine when I get it. When buying trailers do many on here check if they're stolen through police or manufacturer? I've just been to view and agreed to buy a nice if or tipper and on my return my girlfriend asked if I had checked the vin to see if it was stolen, which worried me slightly. now I need to think of an excuse to go back and check it before I buy. Ie not checked this on either of my clippers and ever been stopped and checked myself. Does anyone else bother to check?
  16. Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it, i think the winch will be extremely useful on at least one job I've got booked in :-) Is the oil change on the gearbox and transfer box quite straight forward? Upper level bolt and a drain plug kinda set up?
  17. Yeah of course the chassis has been welded its a 91 landy! However all the work I notice on it is substantial, tidy and looks very well done. As has been mentioned these were available as tippers with increased payload from standard, this is one of them. It has ,land rover special vehicle' decals on wings etc and has been a tipper from new on logbook I can only presume this is why it's 3500kg, suits me :-). I paid £3960. Winch works a treat too, pulled my part loaded Iveco daily up hill with handbrake on as soon as I got home. I was pleasantly surprised by the power and torque of the engine to for something that sounds similar to smiley face transit on tick over!
  18. Just got it back home log book states 3500kg :-)
  19. I've requested a look at the v5 but not seen it, so not sure however it does have helper springs and Salisbury axle...but apparently the hd's have a different chassis also, which I don't know how to identify. The Dodge got written off by a women who 'didn't see it' haha! Whilst it was parked but I bought it back and it's almost repaired but no tipper as yet
  20. Under drivers seat --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?ob0nnq
  21. Thanks it all looked about right to me, but as I said to begin with I'm not a landy pro! And the sudden discovery of it having over 200k on it had me a little startled. However all these positive comments are encouraging. Oh yes Geoff it does have helper springs inside the larger coils, but all the mots have been class IV and I couldn't find the plate to check weights. Could it be because it's classed as a 4x4 or something, or it's got the standard 3050kg gvw but helper springs just for good measure? All 110's should be class 7 though as class IV is restricted to 3000kg and they are 3050kg, another can of worms I'm sure.
  22. I am the winning bidder ;-)
  23. That's the one rover, South Mimms
  24. Sorry that's odd, Item number: 130685974418 Thanks, Bill
  25. http://http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130685974418?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D130685974418%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_500wt_922 Passed close to this whilst quoting during the week and had a look, seemed ok to me, solid chassis a few bumps n scrapes etc but generally appeared to be pretty good. The winch worked and the tipping body was a good build also. However i have never owned A land rover before and would Beverly appreciative if a few of the resident land rover Enthusiasts could cast an eye over the pictures and description and give me their thoughts on it. I was quite sure about the purchase, until I went through the mot history and noticed the shockingly low milage of 126000 is not so, a few years back it dropped 100k between MOTs however this revelation just puts into a more fitting mileage for its age, bearing that in mind and the smattering of new parts (shocks) etc. would you guys take it or leave it? Box felt pretty good and the seats etc don't really show the miles it's done. I am relatively experienced in buying used kit and motors but the extra 109k miles has cast a shadow of doubt over the whole thing Thanks, Bill
