  1. there was no need bob, as the trimmings were falling into the back of the truck, and i was on the levers and driving, so i just swept and blew between driving. you know i would of done it the best possible way
  2. good on you mate, new vans are great what ever they are.
  3. must be draining it somewhere, get a mechanic to stick his tester on it for a few quid mate
  4. when hedge cutting the secret was to just go with it, as lond as you werent cutting in to deep at a time it was ok, or just do very fast short movements, but yes it was decided that 1 lad holding the basket was a lot better
  5. the one i worked alongside couldnt travel far becaus eit would blow its pump
  6. give them a choice, if they can relate to one of them then thats the option for them,
  7. yes we did dean, but like everything there is a knack to it. but a mewp would of been so much better for the job thats for sure
  8. i was working with an AA aproved contractor and he had a monster one that rotates with a basket, so f they can do it then so can you, as long as you fill in the right forms and have the kit in good condition and checked
  9. i dont see why not mate, they do it in every building site in the country. well they used to.
  10. you have been busy dave i see, good stuff
  11. i could fix that in 10 mins with a bulldog spring rake, i see you got yourself a winch basil:thumbup1:
  12. telehandlers are hard to position, you end up having to block roads and stuff, and once you have set up and boomed out, you can get there and be out by a few feet. i have used them a few times but not ideal. good for presurewashing roofs though lol
  13. i can openly say there was absolutley no swinging what so ever:sneaky2: wee scott was sea sick by the end of it:lol:
  14. it moves about a hell of a lot, that was the only problem hanging out the back, we opted for it over the body and the other lad held it in place, and most of the stuff fell into the back of the truck
  15. try a greenmech or jobeau now, make sure it is sharp and you wont be disapointed
  16. is there a better feeling than putting on fresh washed toastie ballsistics straight off the radiator in the morning mmmmmmmmm:thumbup:
  17. now that is perfect firewood size if ever i have seen some, spot on.
  18. it was both mate, i didnt want to take the risk of recking all the logs so we tipped them out and into out big cages on pallets, they are dryer than a dry thing now. wind rocks lol
  19. folk that arent scared have loads of scars. be scared matt, thats what keeps you safe. good on you for getting stuck in. I can actually smell your ropes mate, green horrible slippy stuff, was the manky water running down your sleeve when prussiking down?
  20. whatever way i get paid is because that will be agreed before i commence with the contract. be it 10quid or 2 grand. But 99% of my customers will pay me on the day or if they arent in then they will drop it off that night. i have a factoring agent doing a 60 mile round trip on friday to pay me to save themselves 20quid. and they used to insist on 30days, i dont do 30days anymore, well not for factors anyway. i do some council work and they put it in my bank on the 30th day of invoice, which is an email so no rubbish about lost cheques or slow posties
  21. Matt you have just graduated mate, you have learnt today that real tree work is crapping yourself all day, too nervous to eat and stinging eyes from sweat. Your top anchor looked crap(the tree shape not your climbing), the tree was just a rubbish shape and that can make the world of diference, it looked like you were always working with the rope over your shoulder almost, next time turn round and face your anchor for the outside limbs then on the bigger limbs stand square on choker your strop and sit back, you really need to trust your spikes and keep your weight on the harness at all times, even on something with a crappy crown, stick another line in, more awkward at first with all the krabs and prussiks or vt's, but for very safe confident work positioning it is excellent. dead elm is as horrible as you get..well done again:thumbup:
  22. no i did not mate, i chipped a huge pile of ferns and dead braken today, it just came out as a big pile of mulched up stuff, it was great. i have chipped everything with it now, the only stuff it doesnt like is dead sitka. the tiny stuff just came out the same. but i tell my customer it can only make chip out of wood and the other stuff just gets chopped up. but i would be interested in the shredder thing to give it a bash..
