  1. Looks quite low, what do you think about it for woodland work with a shear head
  2. Duncan from stumpbusters retired years ago, what a character!!
  3. Unusual French Mecalac spotted | EARTHMOVERS MAGAZINE
  4. this has realy caught my eye. A contractor in cornwall has 1. Does anyone know him? Graham Sandercock.
  5. handbreak comes up to say 45 degree( this is a guess) the only time it came right back is after it shot backwards, hit my house and pulled the break cable, the break cable pulled the bottom of the break lever hence sending the handle away further back than usual. If it hadnt hit the house( i had 1 side chalked) it would of snapped the cable and kept going. as i said, trailer had recently been serviced and the trailer will stop the towing vehicle on a downhill when breaks applied with force. I ill get trailer booked in and get it tested after
  6. For me something has to work 100% to work. That humble pie an stay in the oven 😀
  7. I do have my spoon ready CJ:biggrin: is there 2 adjustments for the brakes? 1 forward 1 reverse? My brakes are great forward and it had just been serviced when i bought it.
  8. Dean i wouldn't apologise, they say you must put chocks behind your wheels uncoupling up hill! We don't have to do this with cars!! The procedure is to let it roll back so it engages then chock! As far as I'm concerned that means brakes don't work in reverse.
  9. I would say it was the result of the trailer shooting back 2 ft with over a ton on it and horsed the lever right back as the cable didnt break. We often push the trailer about in driveways and car parks, when applying the handbreak while going backwards slowly, it will always stop. From what i have just read, the trailer breaks will roll back 10" s before applying. Fig 5 http://www.al-ko.co.uk/edit/files/handbooks/overrun-braking-system-handbook.pdf
  10. My trailer had not long been serviced, i reversed down my drive. I put a brick as 1 side( only had 1 brick kicking about) i kept the cable n and wound the jockey, once off it shot round to the 1 side, the cable horsed the brake until it was tight against the trailer and it hit my house. i had a pallet of turf on it. well worth checking guys, if you have a spare bit of time try it.
  11. could you explain the enegy store please, thanks CJ
  12. its backing down a slope that the trouble lies Stubby.
  13. so on the flat the brakes will work in reverse and if gradient and weight is enough, it can get unlocked as the trailer thinks its reversing so to speak
  14. Pete they do disengage when reversing unless you do it quickly, then the brakes come on. But ive reversed trailers into driveways, put on the handbrake and they have taken off and this is with good trailers with serviced brakes.
  15. I need help to settle a debate between myself and a friend. I have twice lost trailers backwards down a driveway with the handbreak on and a chipper. I was under the impression the braking mechanism only works parked facing forwards. Have i had faulty trailers and have to eat humble pie :blushing:or can i gloat a him over coffee tommorrow:biggrin:
  16. Same here, well until the wind picked up. T shirt time, it felt great
