  1. Glad your enjoying it mate and cheers for the recomendation:thumbup1:.
  2. You know you've got it bad when your splicing first thing on a sunday:001_tongue:. Doing black ropes is a nightmare int it?
  3. If you look in the second pic you can see where the rope is fed into the fid. All you do then is cinch the fid down to where the core exits, then you want to trim a couple of the strands off so there's not so much mass to pull through. Then anchor the fid to something strong(i use a tree in my back yard). Then wrap the original core rund your right hand and grab the rope with your left hand. Then pull like a mother:biggrin:. If you've caught any strands as you've inserted the fid then though this process wont work well!! haha. Hope that makes sense?
  4. It sounds like your inserting the wrong end of the fid mate. The rings are or anchoring the fid after you've folded it half. Here's a couple of pics. Nice work the John mate:thumbup1:. Looks like some of your skins left on those ropes mate:001_tongue:. It looks like you had a bunching issue on the first one which caused it to go baggy and a nightmare to bury.
  5. I thought as much mate.
  6. Any links to the limelight mate? I was never a fan of blaze. Too thin in my hands and way to much stretch in it. Also it seemed to milk like mad. Ive been on tachyon for ages until i got some PI and now i really rate it. Dont think i'll be going back for a while. I may have to get some imori just so i can compare. Does anyone sell it by the meter so i can have it plain ended and see what its like to splice:biggrin:
  7. Ive been climbing on poison ivy for the last couple of months and really rate it. feels nice in the hands and not too much bounce in it. Looks really nice with armor pruss too! Not tried the imori yet but looks a nice rope.
  8. I dint know they did prussiks mate:001_tt2:. Nice quality made gear if a little pricey. The rope guide is an awesome bit of kit and the lockjacks are really good too when you get the hang of them. There just a bit twitchy when you need that little bit extra at the end of a branch.
  9. Nice one cheers mate:thumbup1:. Looks like a phone call to nod in the morning! haha
  10. Yeah i only do it when blocking down. Ya cant beat a good pair of V's:biggrin:........i may have to start a V thread when im back on my laptop?
  11. Cheers mate:thumbup1:. Its all gear no idea! Honest:001_tongue:
  12. Yeah its such simple little trick that works bloody awesome!! Dont have to worry about spiking the rope . It was very warm today but was stupidly windy. Could of done with some ski goggles!! haha.
  13. Few pics of a beech stick from today.
  14. i just remove core altogether,do a locking brummel each end and re-insert back into its jacket. Then seal the eyes.

Nice work on the lawson by the way Matty. We dont get many that size around here. Sorry to hear about your saw to mate. Thieving scumbags:sneaky2:

  21. We should be there as long as the trusted old astra makes it!! haha.
  22. Looking good John:thumbup1:. As long as the wire opens the eye back up once its been loaded it should be fine.
