  2. Unlucky mate, bet that great lump took some blocking up? I bet there were shed loads of sawdust too...........habitat pile?! Haha Mozza if I was doing that it would of been a constant angry Hadleigh interspersed with demoralised Hadleigh! Haha......
  3. Cheers mark just need to get the helicopter now to match! Haha. Nice work Ian looked a big ole girl that one. You have to take all the timber away in the transit? Nice work too mozza and rob, that job would of tipped me over the edge I'm sure!!......hate ivy!!
  4. Cheers chaps :-) Here's a bit of a vid hopefully, trying to do it from my phone so who knows what's going to happen?! Haha
  5. Glasses all the way,I wear some bloc ones that I got from a Cotswold shop. Very hard to scratch and don't steam up. The only problem I had is that there slightly tinted and are not much cop during a early hour call out! Haha
  6. Bit of pine felling today, love a job when you can just smash it down. Don't get them very often.
  7. Nice work John. You still splicing much these days?
  8. Haha! It ain't my hitch. To be fair to him though he hasnt climbed on it yet..........although it probably wont look much different ?! Haha
  9. Anyone heard lamb of gods new album? It's feckin awesome!!!!! http://
  10. To be honest I'm not entirely sure? I think in the new stuff they have used one less strand in the cover to tighten it up. So when you take your usual amount out on the taper the new core is thinner than the existing one If that makes sense? On the other hand if you leave one extra strand in on the taper it's almost impossible to do the crossover. Need to speak to nod in more detail about it as I know he's had trouble with the crossover too........which is saying something! Haha. Have you done any yourself Carl?
  11. It is mate yeah. It's from a batch before they changed the construction so not too bad to splice. The new stuff is an absolute pig! I keep meaning to buy some so I can play about with the taper.
  12. Lad at our place was blocking a cherry down and as he was sliding his climbing line down it got caught on a little twig and he didn't realise. He actually cut below his hitch but slid the hitch over the cut for some reason?!
  13. Nice work Craig, always top whipping on your ropes!! I think this requires some attention?!
  14. Nice work flower! Can't believe you ballsed the e2e up though! How many e2e AP did you watch me do?! Haha
  15. As above. Also though if you can bed it in ocean poly works nice. That's what I'm currently on.
  16. To be fair mate marlow geko is the worst rope ive ever had the misfortune of climbing on! As far as premium ropes go it really depends what your lookinmg for? New England and Yale XTC are nice good all round 16 strand 13mm ropes. If you wnat to stick with the 16 strand but slightly smaller diameter Edelrid XP and Samson arbor master are very good ropes. Out of all those i personally prefer Edelrid XP. All the above ropes work well in the wet, easy to tie knots in and are all easy to splice. Only down side really is they can be a tad heavy and can be quite bouncy. The other ropes to look at is 24 strand double braid ropes. Such as Tachyon,Poison Ivy and the Imori. All these ropes work well with friction cord and mechanical devices. Im currently using Poison Ivy and love it. All these ropes are around the 11.5mm diameter. If you want something even smaller though then there's Samson Velocity or Yale Blaze but these are thin ropes at only 11mm. This can cause a few problems if you suffer with tennis elbow or carpal tunnel as you have to grip like a mother! haha Hope some of that helps? There's loads of threads on here to do with climbing lines though if you want more info. Just use the search bar:001_smile:
  17. Same here, there of no use in there other than to give the rope profile.
  18. Nice work mate. To be honest I much prefer 16 strand, there alot easier to churn out at trade shows! Haha. Once you've mastered the crossover there a breeze. Starting on tachyon was a brave move to mate,if you can splice that then all other double braids are simple!! Keep up the good work.
  19. Hey Jim the crossover on 16 strand can take a while to get perfect. Either a bit skinny or wee little lump? To get mine spot on i just imagine a kind of rectangle and your drawing an imaginary diagonal line from corner to to corner. The object is to lose about 50% from either tail so as you bury them they sit nice and snug:biggrin: You've got my number mate if you need further assisstance:thumbup1: Your ropeguides all spliced up too just got to whip it and it'll be on its way.!
  20. Haha,good point. I'll keep looking.
  21. To be honest i dont know as ive never tried it. Ive tried the one ive got on small loads and seems to open ok. I suppose if your on your lanyard though then the load wouldn't be huge? Could dipp forward a tad and then release it?
  22. Not sure if you've thought of using a shackle like this? Could be worth a look. Could tie a bit of throwline to the quick release?
  23. Congratulations buddy!!!!:thumbup...........loving the hair net by the way:thumbup1:
